Here are some real world user comments..so much better than the armchair warriors who have only seen a picture of one of these...

1. U.S. Border Patrol recently switched over to the H&K P2000 and I've already noticed my qualification scores rising. The P2000 is a beautiful weapon and an asset to any officer on or off-duty. I love this gun and find it cutting into my love of my Sig P229.

It is light, easy to fire, and cuts down firing time by those life depending fractions.

2..One thing can be said about the Germans with certainty. They do know firearms. This is one of the most fantastic firearms I have ever carried and shot. I own it with the LEM trigger developed by HK, turning it into an extremely light and smooth double action that mimics a single action pull. Very accurate and dependable.

3. I use this weapon mostly on duty but also off duty. I have the v2 .40 caliber law enforcement model and it shots very smoothly, very accurate. It has yet to malfunction on me after 1000 plus rounds. Great overall weapon recommend it for anyone looking to get one. Some say it’s a bit pricey compared to the glocks of the world but I can assure you its well worth the money. Great buy.

4. I carry one for off duty that i traded in my XD subcompact for. I love the decocker no more carrying a locked and cocked in my pants anymore.. the decocker is oustanding located just to the left of the hammer.. and the design of the internals is very close to my USP i carry for duty... I love my H&K's and it would be very hard.;

5. This weapon's performance is outstanding and very reliable. I've ran about 1500 rounds through mine so far without any problems. I own the double/single action version, both trigger pulls are smooth and crisp add to that low recoil and you have a very accurate firearm. The decocker sets down and to the left of the hammer and is by far my favorite feature. I use it as my concealed carry weapon and I actually prefer it over my XD and P229.;

6. I switched to this as a duty sidearm. It took some time getting used to the trigger, but now I have to say it's the best I've encountered. At 25 yards I can put everything into a 8" circle. I've sold all my Glocks and converted completely to the HK.

7. Our department just switched over to the P2000 in 40 cal and my qual score increased. I had a the HK USP compact in 40 cal for a duty and had fired 5500 rounds before the switch. I love both weapons as they are very close to the same. and finally...

8. A good replacement for our italian tomahawks

Heckler & Koch

Description: Produced as a duty gun for a German police agency, the Heckler & Koch P2000 is a light, slim and fully ambidextrous polymer-frame pistol. The only catch is that its long and heavy double-action-only trigger pull—a system H&K calls the Law Enforcement Modification or LEM—is not conducive to practical accuracy. In response to consumer desire for a more precise trigger, H&K introduced a double-action/single-action P2000 variant at the 2005 SHOT Show. Sharing the same nomenclature as the USP family of pistols, the gun was called the P2000 Variant 3. But unlike the rest of the USP family, the V3 is a dedicated double-action/single-action pistol that cannot be retrofitted with the LEM trigger system. A quick look at the V3 reveals that H&K dropped the familiar side-mounted USP decocker/safety lever in favor of a decocker mounted on the left rear of the frame next to the hammer. More a button than a lever, this decocker precludes any levers that could hang up on clothing and increase the thickness of the gun. More importantly, the gun still remains totally ambidextrous. You simply reach back with the weak hand and decock the gun with a press of the button. As unwieldy and unusual as the decocker looks, it’s simple to master. The gun is built around a polymer frame and weighs a scant 23 ozs. In lieu of the proprietary H&K rail found on USP pistols, the dustcover has a more sensible Picatinny rail for illumination accessories. The stippling is molded into panels on the P2000’s front and backstraps, but it is not nearly as aggressive as the USP’s diamond-point checkering. A matte-black nitro-carburized finish H&K calls Hostile Environment is applied to the slide and other metal parts. Disassembly is simple. Just drop the magazine and align a square notch on the left side of the all-steel, machined slide with the slide-release lever, and pry the lever away from the frame. The slide, barrel and guide rod/recoil spring assembly come off, and the left-hand slide-release lever comes out of the frame. The right-hand lever stays attached to the frame. The pistol utilizes the Browning linkless design found on so many semi-autos these days, with one additional feature. A polymer, recoil-absorbing bushing rides up and down the steel guide rod. This bushing is found in both the P2000 and USP compact pistols. The barrel is 3 5/8" long and features polygonal rifling. The pistol is a trim 7" long and stands just over 5" tall. Dovetailed into place, the sights are the traditional three-dot pattern and have a low profile. Tritium night sights are optional. Total thickness of the gun in the three calibers offered — 9x19 mm .357 SIG and .40 S&W—is 1 1/3". The magazine-release extends out of both the left and right sides of the oversized trigger guard and drops the magazine when swept downward. The P2000 comes with four backstraps (small, medium, large and extra large) to reduce the need for slip-on grips or expensive fill-and-grind jobs. Simply punch out

Great comments. I have a P2000 in LEM and a USP 9mm in LEM. I prefer to shoot the USP as I have large hands and get a better grip on the pistol however if I had the choice for CCW (yah right) it would be the P2000. I think the LEM trigger itself is fantastic.

Why is it titled CSC's new pistol? Is CSC Correctional Service of Canada? They don't shoot Pistols. They shoot revolvers.

Not any more..I guess news is a little slow in Sask,,,H&K P2000 is the "New" CSC Pistola...it will replace the Mod 10's

CSC's new duty handgun

The venerable Model 10 will finally be replaced, and with it, goes into history a handgun that has served hundreds of police/law enforcement organizations well. Now, it is expected that the HK P2000 will be my duty carry handgun within the next year.

I will be receiving this change with a positive, open minded approach. Yes, it is not a Glock, 17, 21, 22, or a Sig 226, 229, S&W 5946, M&P or any of the other more widely used LE handgun models currently out there amongst my LE brethren. It is, however, the duty issued handgun of the legendary US Border Patrol. These brave brothers and sisters patrol in all kinds of terrain, weather, and geographical environments. From snow mobiles in Alaska, to horseback patrols on the Mexican border, this firearm is expected to perform. I am proud to know that, when the time comes for me to remove the revolver holster from my duty belt, and switch it to the new holster for the P2000, I will do so with pride and a great feeling of honour.

slavex,
lol... it's all good. I am just looking at the positive side of things. If the story is true and it is here to stay, then anything less than 100% effort in training with this platform will be neglient.

now I am not member of CSC but having been exposed to a ton of their training (they do use the same range as me), and knowing a ton of people who've been instructors etc. I have to say I'll be surprised if they do it properly.

If you are refering to CSC..3 years ago I would have agreed with you.
However..things aren't the same in the Ivory Tower these days.
Stockwell is big on law enforcement and communicates with all the agencies under his office with regularity.
He strikes me as a no bs "do it right or I'll find someone who will" type of guy.
Now I fully expect CSC to come up with some assinine policy regarding the new sidearm but hopefully those with common sense will prevail.

I don't mean to derail this thread BUT; what happens to all the M10's that get rotated out of sevice. Do any become available to the gen'l public for purchase?
Perhaps dealers like Lever or M.D. Charlton pick up on a bunch to sell??

Any gun that can cause longbow to sell his Glocks and think twice about his Sig's must be pretty decent!

I think the post is "other user" comments & not his own experiences.

I'd like to try one out in .40 and see if it would be more accurate for me than the G22 I've been shooting since early 1995.

I note that the web of the gripping hand would be much lower in relation to the slide travel than on the G22....

You never know..they are 5" barrel models so they aren't prohib and I've shot some that were in great shape.
fortunately..I already own one! :)

I noticed that as well and that is the biggest reason I don't like Sigs. I like the bore axis as close to my hand as possible.

They will be destroyed as per government policy
