CSSA, NFA memberships, insurance, and club memberships?

I'd like to get memberships in the CSSA and the NFA. CSSA membership includes insurance, and insurance is optional with NFA membership.

So ... is there a good reason, if I have CSSA membership/insurance, to get the optional NFA insurance?

Also, I'm not yet a member of a club, but I plan on (eventually) joining one. I'm not sure which one, though ... possibly Toronto Sportsmen's Association (it's close to me for now, but with any luck, I'll be moving out to eastern Ontario in the not too distant future). I understand CSSA membership/insurance is often required for club membership ... is this right? And if so, is there typically a discounted membership fee if you're already a member of CSSA?

Oh, and if anyone would like to recommend any GTA clubs, feel free! :D

Clubs that include CSSA membership with the club membership will usually knock $40 off the price if you are already a member. I know Orono does this. What part of Toronto are you in and what are you looking to shoot?

Right now, I'm in the west end ...

... and ultimately, I'd like to get into IDPA (or IPSC). I don't see myself getting a pistol, though, for at least a year. So short term, I'll be target shooting with non-restricted rifles. Might get myself a shotgun and try shooting clays.

So ... any thoughts on getting the NFA insurance if you've already got CSSA insurance?

I've got my RPAL

Don't wait on that, get the RPAL now cause it takes a year just to get all the pieces in order to take that pistol to the range.
And I'll work on my club membership as soon as I can afford the time and money (especially money!) but sadly, a handgun just isn't in the card for me right now. Trust me, if I could do it, I would ... but even aside from firearms costs, this is proving to be a very expensive summer for me! :(

Still no thoughts from anyone about NFA insurance vs. CSSA insurance (I plan on joining both organization)?

You do not need to be in a club to get your RPAL, to get an LTATT you do but not to get the card. So get it when you can, it is 40 bucks to write the test and that is all. Then get your club to get you an ATT after you join one up and write that stupid test that you have to do.
