Cure for Milsurp MOJO disfunction

I think I found a cure that might just work in getting my milsurp MOJO back on course.

I am leaving today for Paris. Paris France that is, not Paris Ontario.

On Monday I'll be doing a tour of Juno Beach and the rest of the week will include Dieppe, Vimy Ridge, Ypres and The Somme.

I'll take lots of pictures and will share them upon my return.

I wanted to do this when I turned 40, but I guess I have to settle for 42 :)

That's always been a goal of mine to do someday. Don't forget to see Authie(pretty sure that's the right name) near Juno. Lot of Canadian action around there D+1 thru D+5.

Have fun :) I did that last February, but in only 6 days. I am going to go back next year and spend more time at each site. Dieppe is quite amazing.
 
Well I am back and have about 1000 pictures to sort through.

I can now cross this off my "bucket list" although me and a friend are looking at going back in 3-4 years and spending a month.

I will post some pictures later on.

Been there 5 years ago doing that.

I am returning early June ( 65th anniv.) !!!!!!

Will certainly have a lot going there for some days.

Will push to Belgium and come back on Paris stopping in Bastogne as well.

Lots to see and remember!!!!!!

Well I had this all typed in and accidentally hit the close button on Firefox. Lost the whole post...god dam it!

Anyhow,

Here are the first few days of the EF Tours Canadian Battlefield tour. Well the first few days of actually looking at battlefields...

The stones on Dieppe Beach. These were hard enough to walk on as you sink in as they move around. Imagine driving a Churchhill on them....

One of the many cemeteries I saw that week. This one is for the soldiers killed as part of the Dieppe raid. The graves also include pilots who flew reconnaissance prior to the raid as well as POWs who perished in captivity.

Well I better post some guns or I'll be banned....

This is a British 25 pounder at Arromanche les bains (Gold Beach) where the British Mulberries were located (and partially still are).

Same spot, a German 88. Both of these are outside the local museum, I did not go in. (Too busy touring around and had to look at Mulberry as tide was on way out).

My only comment about the numerous cemeteries that I visited was the lack of respect I saw from some visitors. Mostly kids being kids. The kids I was with were overall very respectful. Unfortunately some were not. I was actually surprised at one British cemetery where the teacher was allowing the kids to climb on a monument for unknown soldiers.

Lastly, I saw this in a comic shop in Paris...had to take a picture...

It should have the Red Ensign instead of the Maple Leaf since that was the flag we used. Not that I have a problem with the Maple Leaf, Might be better to have both. But its an awesome album.
