I was @ B.G.C this morning shooting some Skeet.
(Berreta 391 Teknys Sporting Stonecoat)

My First box was Remington's Premier STS Target - 2 3/4"- 1 oz- #9shot
I experienced 4 Failures to Feed (2nd shot) when I loaded for doubles.
-a few weeks ago I used a box of Remingtons Gun Club for 5-stand and this happened as well-

My Second Box was Winchesters AA -Ultra light Target -2 3/4"- 1oz- #9shot
Fed Perfectly. No problems whatsoever. I think I actually hit a few more.

My Third box again was Winchesters AA. And.... No problems.

My fourth box.. :) Lots of shooting today:) I switched back to Remington's Premier STS Target and guess what happens.... I load for doubles and the second round gets hung up and dosen't feed. The round leaves the mag but the bolt dosen't put the next round home in the chamber??

So, my questions are.
Is there something I should be looking for / problem I should investigate with my Shotgun?

Could this be a shotshell issue? I don't think a berreta would be picky with different manufacturers rounds??? Would it?

I kinda wish the Winchesters didn't feed properly :) The Remingtons are alot cheaper.......:p

Any insight would be helpful and appreciated.

If it's working with AA and Gun Club it sounds like the shell. Does the shell get hung up on the chamber mouth?

Works with AA. It did get hung up with the Gun Clubs too.

Yes, the Shell gets hung up on the mouth of the chamber.
With the barrel tipped downwards, if I pull lightly back on the bolt, the shell drops into the chamber.

Burrs? Rough edges?

Thanks

My 391 does sometimes jam with Remington shells, but I've always attributed it to needing a cleaning. I've never had problems with the AA's.

I'd wonder if the 1oz of Remington is sometimes a little out of spec and a marginally light load may not cycle the action completely?

Funny, but i was using similar shells today (remington Premier, STS) 1 1/8 Oz #8 shot), just for blamming things at the range, tho i was using my Benelli M4.

It must have jammed about half the shells i put through it (gun was clean and oiled lightly due to cold)

The shells were barely falling out the side of the chamber after firing (the ones that did cycle), although with the jammed ones, a pull back on the bolt back would cycle them out fine.

From what it appeared, they are HORRDILY underpowered, and not great for semi's. The last range trip the thing ate every round, no problems.

Again, my guess is just very weak rounds... they were very mild as far as recoil went.

My tekny's used to be very particular about the shells it was being fed. It turns out mine had a bent shell carrier. This was a common manufacturing problem for the older tekny's. Maybe you should give it a look.

If it is and your gun is under warrenty don't hold your breath on getting the gun back on for a while. Mine was gone 6 months for what is a 15 minute basement fix.

It could be a carrier issue. But I'd check a couple of others things first. Take the trigger assembly out and check that it's clean and oiled. Remove the barrel and check the gas ports (holes in the bottom of the barrel) to make sure they are not gummed up).

Here's a link from a U.S. site on disassembly of the 391 that covers the carrier issue.

Assyrian--I have the same gun and am currently having the same problems. It will fail to feed about every 8th shot no matter what I feed it.I gave it a good scrubbing today and then tried some Winchester AA 2.75 gram # 7.5s.IT ftf on the 5th and 9th shot.Took it back out to Gagnons where I purchased it & was advised that there is sometimes a problem with the shell carrier. They are sending the gun back to the importer for repairs.Good luck sorting yours out. When I get mine back I'll let you know how it works.
