Current PAL turnaround time faster?

I took the PAL/Restricted course back at the end of October 2007, and did`nt get my card until March 10. They called one of my references. I also phoned once a week after the 45 day waiting period expired.

Nothing online had changed in over a week since they spoke to my second reference so I called them today and they said they had no record of speaking to my second reference. Luckily he was nearby so they questioned him again and my status has changed to license issued. :)
Like someone said, if anything seems odd or too long, call. Sure glad I did.

I think they really must be on the ball lately. Miramichi received my application on the 15th of Feb and, according to the online status check, my licence has been issued today, exactly 28 days later... Bear in mind, I'm in Quebec, the bastion of beurocratic red tape.

You got me all excited because that is when mine was received. I checked and its still processing :(

Well here is my good story, CFC recieved my pal app. on the 6th of Feb. approved on March 5 and in my hot little hands today!

They didn't even call me or my references.

Take heart, the day ain't over yet ;)

5 p.m. is when you should get annoyed.

Done and done.

Although, I finally got the CFO's ext. number for the 1800 line when I went to the sportsman's show in Toronto. They'll be hearing about it Monday... Then Tuesday... Then Wednesday... Or until they just approve it. :D

I called Miramachi March 4th to find out what was going on with my application, and they said they had sent it to the Alberta CFO the previous week.... Still says 'initial processing complete' on the website though. I guess I should give em a call and ask whats up.

I phoned the Ontario CFO today, and the nice lady on the line took a look at my file and saw no reason that my application should be held up like it is, and said she'd pass it off to one of the licensing people there. Hopefully It will get issued today or tomorrow.

Sent it in beginning of Feb, got it the beginning of March. Quick as an oil change if you ask me...

I've had it about 14 days and I've already bought three guns, and I'm working on my fourth.

I think I'm gonna need a better storage setup haha :p

Edit: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

:D I take that back. Although, this ordeal had me memorize my license number from checking online a few times a day.

Yay, mine was issued today, right after the 28 day waiting period. Recieved by them Feb. 18, issued March 17.

So, looks like its currently 28 days for those of you wondering.

mine was issued 5 minutes ago, after I called the Alberta CFO.... apparently my supplimental info sheet got lost between Miramachi and Edmonton

anyway, incase Pat is reading this, thanks for sorting things out for me Pat :)

(its too bad I wont have it in hand in time for the calgary gun show this friday/saturday :( )

I sent my paperwork in for Non-restricted and restricted PAL Jan 25. At the same time I sent my paperwork in for my BC resident Hunter Number. Long story short I recieved my PAL before my Hunter number on Feb 27, and my Hunter number came on the 11 of March

So I guess we're all confirming it: PAL turnaround time is much better this time of year. One of my close friends applied for his PAL end of October and got his card on Christmas eve!
