This rifle Started life as a Winchester Lightweight 270, my grandfather bought it for me over 20 years ago when I started hunting. Never terribly accurate but killed a lot of game with it. As I got more involved with firearms and my preference went to Remingtons the ol winchester just sat in the cabinet like the red headed step child.
I decided to build something that was real cool and unique. Something I'd never want to get rid of and could hand dow to one of my boys. IMO I nailed it.
It was inspired by the Weatherby Ultralight, love the look and I always wanted a fast .25 cal
-Winchester m70 pushfeed
-Chambered in 25-06 Ackley Improved
-NOS douglas XX airgauged #3 contour barrel.
-Action Fully accurized
-Action Scalloped
-Bolt body fluted
-Bolt handle drilled and fluted
-Barrel Fluted
-Trigger tuned (VERY nice)
-Match firing pin and spring
-Wildcat Winchester Featherweight Carbonfiber stock that Stewart put a little love into it for me and lightened it up a bit from this standard offerings.
-All metal ceramic coated Matte Black
Metal work, which was considerable, was done by Bill Leeper
Ceramic coating by Alberta Tactical Rifle
Stock work by myself
Although the goal for this rifle wasn't light weight I do like reasonably light rifles so I did a few custom things to drop it to a respectable level IMO
It tips the scales at Under 6.5 lbs Naked but I still need to put a recoil pad on it.
