I’m trying to rig up an ambi mag release for a t97. Yes, I know I could buy a norgon or whatever and hand fit it, then drill and tap the button but it seems like a lot of extra work and I’m cheap. I have an extra ar bolt release, and I started thinking what if I just cut the paddle part of the bolt release and welded it to the rear portion of the mag catch (left side of the rifle)? I see pretty well all of the ambi mag catches have some sort of pin or pivot point, my ghetto one obviously wouldn’t have this. Is that pivot point crucial? Or can it be done without it? Anyone tried this before?
