I've checked a few places online and no one seems to be able to make the barrel I am looking for, if anyone knows someone capable please let me know. I am looking for this:

18.6" with rifle length gas
4150 CMV CHF <-- I do not want 4140 and it has to be cold hammer forged
5.56 Nato chamber
1/7 Twist 5R rifling
Nitrided or Chrome lined but it better be a good chrome lining
Dimple Fluting

Contour can be either Socom or Daniel Defense LW which is Socom until after the gas block, where it then get thinner

Thank you

What you are looking for is very specific, you can call Alberta Tactical and see what they can do for you and don't expect the price to be any where near economical.

Couple things about what you are asking, SOCOM barrel is a medium profile barrel (0.75" in dia) and Daniel Defense LW is a standard (0.65" dia), dimple fluting requires a bit more material so it will probably require a thicker barrel than. 0.75".

It doesn't exist, I've been looking for years for a 4150 CHF 18.6 in a heavier contour. I have a Daniel Defense S2W that's only 18.2"....

The only avenue I've found in that regards, is a company in the USA i have no experience with: Sand Hammer Forging. I've been toying with the idea of ordering a CHF Mil 11595e barrel blank and having someone here machine it, even have drawings for the profile set up in Solidworks for specs. But I have no idea if they're even export registered or not...

OR, you can get one of the 18.5" ACR barrels (which is Mid length not rifle) and drill out the gas port to the proper size. I did that on my current 16.5" barrel on my AR and it runs excellent (I'm looking to eventually swap out receivers to the ATRS ones and make it NR, but need the barrel first) Then again it's not 5r rifling either, so thats 2 strikes against it.

I just don't want a 5 or 10 round mag dump to destroy the throat, not that I do it often, but I have no interest in a barrel that can't take some strenuous situations.

Hbean, Daniel LW is a gov/socom contour until after the gas block, I’m 99% sure of this. Also, Alberta cannot make this barrel.

F22, it seems we are stuck with some pretty bad barrel options when it comes to anything over 18”. I thought about getting a Daniel S2W but it’s too heavy for what I want, plus its too short and I need it for non restricted.

Theres gotta be a shop somewhere that can source a CHF barrel blank and cut 5R and dimple flute, there has to be.

This is driving me crazy because I know all the parts I need for my rifle except for the barrel, assuming Geissele releases the MK16 rail seperate from the URGI

The only 2 places I've seen that offer CHF blanks is Sand hammer forging and CZ. But I'm not 100% sure either of those will do 5r rifling.

The Daniel Defense is definitely a heavy barrel, i know wolverine was supposedly talking to them about 18.6" barrels before they cancelled their Maccabe defense orders... You could easily trim the outside profile down on a lathe to lighten the weight, but of course right now they're too short >.<

I don't even think FN releases blanks, even though they have some of the most accurate CHF barrels out there (My backup plans is a 20" FN barrel, although i'd like a little more meat behind the gas block, 750 behind the gas block would be good for me)

It might be worth sending Sand hammer forging an email just asking if they do CHF in 5r rifling, then if the answer is yes you could see if IRG would do an import on a barrel blank or a small batch, the ball mill dimpling could be done i think Herron Arms has done it before...

F22, seems like we are on the same page, I wanted a heavier barrel behind the block aswell thats why I said I wanted it fluted. I want the barrel, after being fluted, to resemble a socom contour. So close to same weight but stiffer barrel.

I was also looking at getting an FN, cutting it to 18.6” and calling it a day. Doesnt have 5R and all that but it seems like the best option for not. I would love to go all out on this rifle but the barrel is letting me down

Except it's illegal to cut a barrel from a restricted firearm.

Not correct. There are numerous people, including myself, who do this. If it ends up being longer than 18" then no problem. Shorter than 18", prohibited.
It's stupid I know. But I guess that's par for the course anymore.

I don't see why someone here who works with bolt gun blanks wouldn't be able to cut and thread to length, then install an AR15 barrel extension and cut the gas port at whatever length you wanted it. That said while easy in theory finding someone to do just one for you cost effectively will be tough.

I think it's getting the right blank that's the issue.

The OP is looking for CHF (hard to find a blank as-is) plus 5R rifling, PLUS 4150cmv (Mil11595e) which is not what you'll find most blanks in.

As I had said earlier, Sand Hammer Forging in the USA makes CHF blanks in 4150 but I don't know if they're export registered and if they do 5r rifling... As far as the getting a blank and milling it, that's the easy part! There's at least 1 guy in Canada doing dimpled barrels because that's what the S&J hardware barrels had done to them.

Why would you want a 7 twist in an ar, makes no sense unless you are single loading 80+gr
556 is what you buy because its cheap, building a custom barrel in 556 would be like ordering a Lamborghini with steel rims and drum brakes... (but still paying for the fancy stuff)
If 5r provided any benefits you certainly wouldnt be able to notice it in a "milspec" chamber

You ae asking for somthing that no one in the world does. Not do I think anyone has intrest con do in that
Chromlining is a thing of the past.
Unless u want to use you gun full auto.
