So last night I was looking at the bayonet mount bi pods on one of the sponsors here and I started to think maybe I could just get a spare bayonet and cut it up and make my own set up. My question is has anyone on this site tried anything like this?

I don't find the bayonet lug a good place to hang a bipod: first, it hampers movement in traverse shooting on moving targets, second, it gives the firearm a very muzzle heavy balance and third, it messes up the harmonics of the barrel.
What works for an automatic machine gun, where dispersion is sometimes desired, doesn't necessarily translate on a semi-auto rifle where every shot counts.
A midpoint anchoring spot such as just in front of the receiver is a far better proposition.
PP.

you werent the first to think of cutting a bayo to make a bayo mount bipod .

you just end up with a ugly home made bipod thats much heavier than the factory original .
