I got a 92FS (Italian) this last year.

I like it very much and will be keeping it for the foreseeable future. The reasons are pretty straightforward:

  • Its a common service pistol with wide availability and a gazillion spin-off models.
  • Its a bucket list firearm for me

Given those things, I'm going to keep it and continue to enjoy learning to master it.

Couple things I want to accomplish though. As it turns out at least one of them will involve some custom work.

  • I'm going to change the factory sights. They are a weird 1980s paradigm that just don't for low light shoots. There fore I want to:
    • have the slide milled to receive a dovetail tritium front sight
    • have the rear sight switched out a matching tritium
      rear sight

Were I inside the US, I'd just send the slide to these guys:

IDGAF what this does to Beretta's warranty claim status in Canada. Nor am I really interested in 'advice' to shoot another pistol.

So if anyone has had success with a gunsmith here in Canada that will get the work done without me having to endure the 'good fortune' to wait 6 months until they decide its time to do the work, I'd be much appreciative.

How about Tacord? I haven't tried them yet, but since all the places I have sent guns have done a piss poor job, I figure they are next on my list to try out.
 
Casey's pretty good. But I don't know if he's ever done 92FS.

Sure I can call and ask. (I'm sure someone will raise that point) But I figure if no one knows anyone who can do this work here on CGN...
 
Cutting a simple dovetail on the front should not be a problem for any gunsmith, the problem you are going to have is the height I think. You will need a much higher rear sight to accomplish your goal I think. What about simply drilling a small hole in the rear of the front sight, rear of the rear sights and inserting a "Hi-viz" type of material? Might be far less expensive in the long run and keep the existing clean lines of the slide!! Just a thought from another Beretta guy!

Appreciate your input. Photos are of completed product are weirdly rare. But the ones I have seen of XS 92fs sights installed look pretty good. I think at least in part due to the fact of how they align top to bottom instead of straight across.

I also read that Trijicon factory refitted/installed sights drill the front sight post.
