custom contour scope base?

I have a Rossi M92 16" barrel .44 mag. It is one of the newer ones with the bolt safety that I have converted to a "Steve's guns" peep sight, and with the original rear sight removed the barrel is drilled and tapped for a weaver style mount. If I mount a scope base manufactured by Steve's guns, the base is so high I can no longer see the peep sight. I'd like to mount a Burris Fastfire red dot sight on the rifle, but remove it when I don't need it and instead use the peep sight. I'd like to be able to buy a lower height scope base, but nobody makes one that i'm aware of. The weaver style base must match the taper of the round barrel, and has hole spacings that are quite unusual, the same as TC hand guns I am told. Can you recommend someone who can build / modify a custom base for me in Canada?

What about milling a groove down the length of the base you currently have?

that could possibly work, but would leave the base much higher than ideal. I'd prefer it to be lower over all.

No luck finding a stock replacement, have put the project on hold for now.
