Am I the exact same as Homer Simpson getting his wife a bowling ball for her birthday? No, he wasn't smart enough to get her a pink one was he?
So years ago I bought the wife a factory profile 18" barrel blued 10/22 in a pink laminate stock because she thought it was in her words, not mine "so cute". We bought it from PandD and at the time it was a decent price for a regular run of the mill blued .22 in a slightly upgraded stock, oh and it came with a very poor optic as well. So I junked the TASCO or whatever it came with and put in a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9X40 I had on another rifle. Turns out the stock 10/22 is actually a pretty accurate little rifle in the right shooters hands. She slayed a lot of gophers with it over a couple somes and its sat ever since. I want us to get back into shooting more. We used to go to Phoenix range in Edmonton several times a week to shoot pistols. So for one of her Christmas presents this year I sneakily robbed the stock off her 10/22 and sent it off to our own KevinM to get several inches shopped off the front, the barrel channel reprofiled for a .920 bull barrel, the front handguard reprofiled and it refinished to match how it was. I had the stock dropped off the day after talking to Kevin, he had all the tools and bits he needed. Three days later I got it back, all done, In less shop time than he had quoted me. Im super happy. So I asked the wife if she wanted a present that was all together or one that we had to assemble together. Like Ikea lol. she was intrigued and I said it might be fun to do it together and I promised to remain in the christmas spirit at all times and not throw wrenches or or parts at the wall like when I work on the Ferret scout car. So she's getting her custom shorty stock for Christmas, with a Dlask TUF-22 Custom grey cerakoted railed receiver with DLASK 8' SS dimpled barrel installed. I pre installed the barrel myself instead of doing it with my wife at Christmas in case there was any show stopper issues or I crushed or scratched her brand new receiver in front of her eyes. lol. It went well. I Had to remove a bit of material from the barrel and receiver and used a heat gun for final installation but its in there straight and nice and tight. I have a SS thread protector for the 8" barrel and the gun looks good with that on it, but Im pretty sure at some point my wife will shoot her fingers off. So I put on a Tac-Sol compensator on the end so she wont lose any digits. Ill post pics of the gun after we are finished building it together at Christmas . Parts for the build are
