I have an Ruger Precision Rifle Magnum in 338 Lapua and it comes with a 30MOA picatinny rail. I was also planning on using a Burris PEPR cantilever scope mount which comes only in 20MOA for a 34mm scope tube. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gunsmith or machinist that can machine down a 30MOA+ rail to 00MOA. I've looked all over and every rail made in the aftermarket for this rifle is either 40 or 60MOA. I don't plan on shooting 1000+ yards. A 20MOA should be good to shoot 500- 1000 yards so if I have a OOMOA rail and a 20MOA scope mount I should be good to go. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Never thought of that but I tried to envision it on my rifle and I think doing that would push the scope back too far toward my eyes. If this rifle had a long Picatinny rail, which it doesn't, part of the reason I want to use a cantilever mount, then that idea might work but as it stands now with the short picatinny rail it wouldn't work IMHO. Yeah, I know what you mean. I think the magnum means the rail is made from 7075-T6 instead of 6061-T6 Aluminum. That said, they also make these rails out of steel as well. I will send them an email and find out what's going on. Thanks for the response

Umm it says:
This mount will not work on:
Ruger Precision Rimfire
Ruger Precision Standard (Not Magnum Calibers)

meaning it is for the magnum calibers not the standard calibers

Burris ATR Signature Tactical rings gives you:

With these inserts, it is possible to make 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 40 MOA of cant in the scope mount in any direction.

Yeah, that's another possibility but I think the cantilever mount will give me better scope position because the rail is 19 slots long(about 8.5"). That said I'm going to wait until the rifle arrives and then decide if I use or sell the cantilever mount and buy a set of the XTR Signature Rings. You can buy the rings in 1.00 and 1.5" height whereas the cantilever comes in a 1.35" height.
