Custom M-14 Aluminium Stock w. Picatinny Rails

The stock as pictured in the Marstar adds looks VERY nice, and with all the machining, is probably worth every penny. How it balances and how it shoots would be the deciding factor ... are there any range reports on this "in stock" item, or is it still just a dream?

This design is very close to what I started to build a couple of years ago. The big difference between their design and mine, is that I am using the guts of a fiberglass GI stock epoxied into the aluminum tubing to mount the receiver. Saves lots of expensive machine time, and for el cheapo/ do it yourself, will probably work almost as well. I am also going for a side folder rather than an extending/slider.

These have been sold in Edmonton at Milarm for at least the last six weeks. I don't know how many they had, but someone here must own one.

Looks like the one that milarm has as well. I had some money on one, but since changed my mine. To me, the stock sits kinda low compared to the rail, not offering any improvement for optics than a normal stock (read:cheekrest needed) so I am gonna wait for the beautiful Troy SOPMOD that's been shown in another thread. my .02$

i think they were askin 800 or something. There were still some bugs that needed to be worked out as well, like the mag well was tight, making it hard to seat a mag

$175 dollars cheaper at Marstar.

Hmmmm.... are they the same stock at Milarm and Marstar?

Does anyone know if you can still use the irons with this stock?

Does it make for a good scope platform?

Do you have to replace the op-rod guide like with the SAGE?

SOMEONE DO A REVIEW?

I spoke to a guy at marstar and hey said you don't need to replace the guide they do have a guide you can get but it will not make it anymore accurate.

Would this stock be better than the fibreglass ones that are always suggested?

Has anyone tried Marstar's M-14 Tactical Scout Mount listed on the Accesories page yet?

Yeah. I'd like to know if this would work for an Eotech (Marstar scout mount) or should I just save my money.

Sorry for the hijack.

Sorry, I didn't answer the question.

This is how I see it:

I'm not entirely convinced that it would be more accurate than a G.I glass stock as the guys who compete with the M14s predominantly use the GI stocks.

Also the glass stocks are being used on the Smith Enterprise Marksman rifles (expensive) going to the troops in Iraq.

Though I've seen some photos of the SAGE equipped one's over there as well.

Some benefits over the glass stock might be:
1. You might not have to buy a $400 scope mount to mount an optic (the aluminum stock has one already.
2. Adjustable stock
3. Accessory mounting; lights, laser, bipod, forward grip, bottle opener, MP3 player, Mercedes hood ornament, etc (I cant afford them so I poke fun untill I can)
4. Cool factor.

For the money ($600 + stock + grip) I think I'd rather buy myself another M14. Not to say I'm not tempted though.

At the Milarm price I’d defiantly walk but Marstar is tempting me.

I'd like to see a review first.

If your main goal is accuracy, I'd be looking at the JAE 100. If you wanna hang all kinds of cool gizmos off it, then this or a sage or troy stock is worth looking at.

So who's gonna be the guinea pig and try one out for us?

Any one got any more information on the Troy SOPMOD stocks?
Like how does it cost and does it handle well?
