It's just a paint job I came up with using a mesh bag and camo paint by Krylon...i would have liked it to be a little more of the woodlands colours, but all in all it came out alright.

Small ring Mauser in 7x57. Around 21' to 22" if memory serves. Took a moose in one shot. I want to sell it.

We don't know what Vassily Zaytsev would have thought, but if it is accurate he might have been OK with it.;) I've filled quite a few truck boxes with game taken with a sporterized No5 JC, M1903 Springfield and M98 Mauser. Once upon a time this was what most people did with their MILSURP rifles, but there are better (and cheaper) ways of getting a hunting rifle nowadays.

I had tried to rebarrel an old 1905 Ross to a 243. Essentially it was a failure in that I cut the chamber too deep, resulting in excessive headspace, resulting in a broken piece of the bolt. But for the record, it could be done if I tried again. Unfortunately with the course threads of this firearm, you only get one try at cutting a chamber.

Pic of the rifle with its new barrel prior to its first and only firing, don't mind the hack of a stock on the thing......
