Hi guys, I am thinking of modifying a couple of my 4.5-14x50mm Boone and Crockett VXIII scopes. What I want to do is have leupold add target turrets to these scopes. Both windage and elevation. Also, "maybe" change the reticle. I was hoping to change it to the TMR type. Has anyone out there done this? how did it turn out? Any idea of the cost?

I am hoping not to have to sell them and lose out allot on the value, just to repurchase a mark4 in the same power range. ( I know the mark 4 is much more robust, but I think the VXIII scopes will do me fine).

Tell me what you think guys! Till then, have fun and straight shoot'in!

Sad to say, but if you are changeing both the turrets and the reticle its going to be cheaper to sell what you have and buy what you want. Or, depending on your point of view, maybe it's a good thing. When you start adding $250 and $160 to the used value of your scope the Mark 4 is starting to look pretty good. Just make sure you price-shop hard.

I'm interested in whether Korth will put a TMR in a VX 3, I'd consider ordering a couple that way in the first place.

I would love to buy new scopes with these options(mark4). When I bought the other scopes I wasnt into the longrange game yet. The money is now invested, but I may be able to just add a turret to the scopes. Maybe keep the B&C crosshairs as is. And maybe later get a calibrated M1 dial made up.
Unfortunately I dont have allot of disposable cash right now.

I just had an M1 dial (elevation) put on a VX3 2.5-8x36, cost $154.00...in the states I do believe you can get both installed for $143.00; dammit I wish it wasn't such a pain to send scopes over the border!

I hear you, and have been in the same situation. I spend a fair bit of time
of time looking at my 4.5-14 and 6.5-20 30mm LRs and wishing I'd just gone for turrets in the first place. 'course I was in my 40mm objective at all costs stage at the time. Maybe that's how I'll justify it now, just pretend that it was all part of a grander plan.:D
