Happy New Year Fellas!

I envisioned myself having a rifle made for me since I was a kid shooting in the Crossman air rifle club days!

I've read about some of Canada's Riflesmiths, but hoping you can give me some names, contacts and feedback on your experiences with regards to a custom gun made in Canada.

This will be my first custom...unless I don't go through with it and settle for an OEM precision rifle.

Ideally I'd like a hybrid that I can use for big game Hunting and still shoot sharp at the range or comps.

Thanks in advance and have a good evening.

I used Chou Brothers for my custom rifle. It look 23 weeks to be completed due to the long wait... but it was well worth it.

I've had rifles built by ATRS, North Shore Barrels, Tactical Ordnance and the now deceased Mick McPhee and I was happy with them all but the Chou Bros built my last F/TR rifle and the standard or service was exceptional. They are currently making me a tactical 6.5x47.

I have heard great things and talked to the guys at Insite arms in Alberta. They are going to be doing my build for me once I get the funds together.

Insite Arms. They do such good work, that I brought my GAP rifle up from Texas (where I live) to get some work done, rather than using the plethora of smiths in the U.S.

Give Insite a call, you won't be disappointed.

Depending on what kind of build you are looking at some great options for smiths in Canada. In AB you could send it to KS arms in Edmonton or Insite in Lloydminster. In BC you could send a Remington 700 action, match grade barrel and stock to Dennis Sorensen and he could assemble you a nice rifle. There are many more I am sure but these I have used or know people who have used with success.

John Marshall builds many rifles used by Palma and Bisley shooters as well as FClass and Precsiion Rifle. He charges a lot less and does equal or superior work than most!

I could not agree more Peter.
John Marshall chambered, crowned and installed a new Kreiger barrel on the RPA FClass gun I purchased from a fellow Maritimer this past fall. The work was top notch and he had a Hanson reamer for the bullets I shoot. As Peter said, the prices he charges seem to be almost, dare I say cheap?
He resides in New Glascow, N.S., so he might be a better option for Manitoba and east if you need to ship your gun to him.
