Custom Springfield Info

Hi folks, I’m brand new to CGN and this forum although I admit I’ve been reading bits of the forum that come up in google search’s for info. Specifically I’m looking for info on a rifle I’ve had for some time and who built it.
It’s a Rock Island Springfield 1903 with a custom barrel chambered in 280 Rem. Only markings on the barrel are EWM & 280 Rem. I was told the rifle was built by Jack Brant in Victoria BC, no idea when but guessing probably the 1970s.
Stock is a stunning piece of walnut completely hand fitted.
Any info on Jack or anyone who might have known him is appreciated. Thanks

I can’t remember exactly, it’s under the scope base and I don’t want to take it apart. I know based on the serial number it was made in the mid 30s at Rock Island Armoury and it’s properly heat treated.
An excellent action on which to build a sporter.
