Wanting to build a Stag-10 to my liking. I have never built an AR type platform so I have zero ideo how parts will jive.

I’m a sucker for clones of military rifles and the Stag-10 closely resembles a KAC SR-25 so I’m going down the MK11 mod 0 route (the RAS rail is less complicated to install then the URX)

Explain to me bolt to barrel relationship on these platforms. Is it essentially plug and play? It is there some fitting required to keep a good lock up and proper headspace?

Help me out. This is new territory for me.

For the most part it is plug and play since most brands bolts and barrels will head space fine. Can always double check with go and no go gauges. Some barrels come with a headspaced bolt.

I am building a stag 10 right now and it is my first build. Using a ballistic advantage barrel and a Brownells bolt carrier group and everything went together without a hitch. All plug and play. All you need is a vice with soft jaws so it does not mark up your receiver. Most hand guards come with a barrel wrench and nut so just install barrel, thread on nut and torque to spec. Super easy. If at all concerned put it together and take it into a gunsmith or buy your own go no go gauge. As long as you buy name brand stuff you should be good to go. I should have my buffer assembly tomorrow which is all I am waiting on, feel free to message me if you have any questions about the process. Cheers!

It's pretty much plug and play. You should check the headspace first though. There is 62k PSI right by your hands and face.

  1. Buy or borrow a set of GO and NO-GO headspace gauges for your specific calibre.
  2. Disassemble the bolt carrier group.
  3. Take barrel and insert the GO gauge into the chamber.
  4. Push the bolt in and try and rotate it. You will have to over come the force of the ejector.
  5. It should rotate.
  6. Remove the GO gauge from the chamber and insert the NO GO
  7. Push the bolt in and try to rotate.
  8. It should not rotate.

It is essentially plug and play. As a general precaution, you'll want to make sure that your barrel/barrel extension is intended for use with DPMS pattern bolts/carriers. I've got manufacturing prints for Armalite extensions, and they are different enough that I wouldn't mix and match without significantly further research.

Good to know.

I’ll probably get someone to build some of it. I’m wanting a certain headspace so I can use 7.62 and .308

Seems like an unreasonably high cost to pay

I’m going with the bones and a spare stripper upper to build off of. That way I’ll have a precision upper and a bullet hose upper :p

As it looks the KAC parts are going to take some $$$ so this may take awhile to build.

Hello all I'm planning a stag 10 build in 308 I'm thinking about a 18 and a half or 20 inch barrel but I want to get an old school iron sight if I could but if not a low pro gas block and a handguard quad rail, what barrels and bcgs is everyone using? I'm using a full rifle length A2 stock
