Well, it's time to beautify one of my Anschutz. Over the winter I am planning on ordering a Custom Stock for my 1717 HB and need your advice.

1) English or Claro Walnut? I am undecided as I like them equally the same.
2) Stock Style? Cheek piece, No Cheek piece or Monte Carlo Style?

This rifle will be used from a bench or set of shooting sticks so I don't know if a cheek piece is necessary??? That is why I need you......I am ignorat when it comes to stock styles.

Here are a few pic's I found to illustrate stock styles I can choose from.

No Cheek Piece

English walnut and shadow line say "custom" to me, but how it fits you is far more important of course than the look.

English walnut and a shadow line cheek piece would look pretty classy. No cheek piece would be a close second for me. I'm not really a huge Monte Carlo fan.

I recommend that you not get too carried away with fancy checkering designs. Something like the checkering on the no cheek piece stock well executed would be my choice.

I think I am leaning toward English Walnut however the stock maker has some pretty amazing Claro Blanks.

Still can't decide on the wood however I know that an Ebony tip and grip cap are for sure.......maybe even go with a steel skeleton.

I really like this checkering pattern though.

I went with a nice piece of Claro Walnut. Sent it to Clay at Prophet River and it will then be sent to Cooper. My project when from a custom stock to a custom rifle + stock. :D
