Customise Series 70 1911

Any will fit. The collet bushing was a failed attempt by Colt to improve accuracy, but all they proved was that John was a much better engineer than they had working for them in the late 60s.
bushings do need to be fitted both to slide and to barrel so find a smith with the experience to do so, the local Bullseye/Precision club is a good place to start.

The very best option for a new barrel bushing for your series 70 is to order a custom made one from EGW in the US.You measure the inner diameter of your slide, outer of your barrel, send them the dimensions and 3 weeks later you have a custom fit bushing. The "angle fit" is best as it allows for the barrel swing down when the gun unlocks.Barrel/slide/bushing fit is very important for accuracy,my sloppy shooting Ruger really tightened up its groups with this change.Bit more expensive than just buying a drop in fit,but well worth it

Custom fit a new bushing, and leave everything else alone. Love me a classic. Ps. Pics are required; )

Pretty much sums it up for me, too.

Are you trying to say that you have trouble getting the bushing on and off, or you don't like it.
It is suppose to be tight, you can get a wrench for it .
The 70 series is better than some 1911's out there, If you are not a gunsmith, don't start messing with it.

Lose the collet bushing and install a regular one. The collet fingers can break and tie up the gun. Fitting the bushing to take out play but still be rotated without a wrench should be enough that probably 99% of shooters won't notice any accuracy difference compared to one that is so tight as to require a wrench.
