Hi guys got a question regarding to Glock customization.

I am upgrading my Glock slide so it can have a some weight reduction and RMR compatible.

Now I have been hearing 2 opinions.

1. Send the OEM slide to gun smith and customize it, cost around $600. (I think I will go to Black Box for this option)
2. Buy a ZEV 3rd party slide and sell the OEM slide on EE to save some money. cost around 800 and OEM slide on EE sells around 200 I think.

Both option cost money and I would love to hear more opinion on this before spending this much.

If you have any experience with either of the option let me know. Would love to hear the first hand experiences. thanks!

What model of glock slide are you trying to customize?

Keep in mind that the Zev slides are billet stainless steel, and aren't just factory slides that have been cut. IMO, that should be the deciding factor for you.

Black box would be a great option for slide work, IMO.

As for my experience, I have a fully built Zev Tech Glock 19 with the dragonfly cut slide

I am trying to customize my G17 slide, so you are saying cutout on the original slide is bad?

No, I wouldn't say that it's bad. Some people like the features that a billet SS slide bring, and are prepared to pay a premium for them. You need to ask yourself if you want to spend as much on a SS billet slide as the entire gun will initially cost you. If weight reduction is 100% your top priority and cost is less important than the weight savings, you'll get better results out of an aftermarket slide.

I'd buy a aftermarket slide and keep the OEM if I ever change my mind.

I second that idea. It will make reselling it easier down the road if that happens.
