A buddy of mine may sell his old AR to me. I am not sure if i want it or not. If I bought it, I would want to chop off the carrying handle and install a mounting rail. Any Idea of how much that would cost? If it is too mch it may be cheaper to buy an AR already "tricked out". Any thoughts?

Buy a flat top upper reciever for $150ish and swap out the carry handle upper. Remove the barrel assembly from one and put it on the other. Too easy to do or have some one do it for you if you don't have the tools. Toss the A2 reciever on the exchange board and recover the cost of your new flat top.
