Customizing the 1911

I'm finished (for now) customizing my 1911. It's a second hand (maybe we can call it third hand if we take in consideration the ARMCO tuning) Spartan. I say it's finished for now cause I will soon be rebarelling and adding a TRUE* compensator to convert this monster into a 400 CorBon.

Mind explaining how the Ed Brown maxi-well works? I'm not sure I fully understand.

its just a mainspring housing with a threaded hole and a stabiliser hole, comes with the magwell and an hexscrew. The magwell has a little pin that goes in hole and is held in place with an hex screw, can come on or off

Personally, I liked it better before, though....

As long as you are happy with it, that's all that matters, though....

In regards to your previous comment about driving out the rear sights

I'm very sorry for this gun; not for you.

smith said the sight was glued in, he gave me the sight back but I have no use for and clearly, there's a red residue that's flaking now that it's un glued. It came off taking the paint that was under the sightwith it. So the press treatment was in fact necessary. I don't know who glued the sights in, previous owner or Armco. It is the only smithing I required for the pistol, other than home smithing which consisted of: fitting the ambi safety, fittign the grips to ambi safety (factory ambi safety cuts weren't long enough), fitting the "maxiwell" that's "drop-in'' (longest job), installing the fastfire and swapping bushing and slide stop.

had it out yesterday and still cant reliably feed the wadcutter, after my last 1000 I'm done with these.

also my sldie stop kept coming out every 20 rounds or so, not popping out but just enough to lock the gun...

Hey Chemo,
I'm planning to mount a Burris FastFire to my Spartan 1911 (9mm). There are two mounts available (1911 Bomar/Novak mount #410322) and the (1911 Standard mount #410321). Which mount fit your Spartan 1911?
