Has anyone cut here synthetic 870 stock to adjust LOP if so could you tell me how you went about it and possibly post up pics?

Thanks,

Mike

Depending on the stock you can cut it down without worrying about the two threaded holes for the butt/pad. Some of the stocks have extra long holes. I put the stock in a band saw and cut it to the desired length. Deburr the edges with a file or sharp tool. Clean out the threaded holes and you're in business. I do have a picture kicking around.
I'll post it later.

Measure and mark the LOP that you want. Here I'm cutting only a 1/2 inch.

Cut the stock square and clean. If you do it by hand you'll more than likely need to sand it flat and clean up the edges.

Check the depth of the screw holes and re-drill if necessary.

The picture shows a Mossberg 590 stock. The Remington stock, if its factory should have a spacer plate and the recoil pad should have a inner profile that fits inside the stock. I cut this down or get a different pad. A belt sander can acheive any profile issues with the pad so everything is tight and square. Hand tools just takes a little longer but some times gives better results.

This is a factory Mossberg 500 stock. Cut about two inchs off plus the butt pad. It wouldn't fit anymore so I had to take a piece of plastic I had and cut it on the bandsaw then sand it. Inside I epoxied cut broom handles to screw into. I havent gotten around to painting it or cleaning it up but here it is: Kind of a hack job but it was only 30 bucks :p

Hi. Where you are matters.
If you don't have access to a band saw or a mitre saw, a mitre box will do. Mitre boxes aren't expensive, but it won't be wide enough to cut with the stock laying flat. Getting the cut square is important. Cut the stock enough to include the thickness of a recoil pad.
"...epoxied cut broom handles to screw into..." Excellent idea. A hunk of hardwood dowel of about the same diameter will work as well. So will filling the void with epoxy bedding material.
