So I need a mid length tube and am having a hard time finding one. I am seeing lots of rifle length tubes around, however. Is there a problem with cutting a rifle length one down using a proper pipe/tubing cutter?

Thanks,
Mark

i got a midlenth tube from brownells (thats what the package said anyway) and it was an inch or so too long. I cut it down with a hacksaw and then just filed the rough edges off and it seems to be working good after 500ish rounds. I say go for it but my experience is pretty limited.

It's possible, but should you without knowing what you're doing? Absolutely not!

Be patient and wait for the proper product to come available.

If you must cut them......there is no issue if you do it cleanly. Use a dremel with a cut off wheel as opposed to a hacksaw would yield a neater cut. If you must use a hacksaw use a new blade to prevent snagging the tube and kinking / bending it on a worn tooth or bent blade. In either case make sure to deburr the edge and clean out the tube prior to install.

When given the opportunity though.. OEM is always best.

Can also try NEA although no idea of quality. I ordered a mid length and they're still showing in stock. Considering it's a gas tube it should be fine, so that's another option.
