For you gunsmiths:

Is it possible to thread a cylinder bore barrel for choke tubes? Or is there not enough "meat" in the barrel to tap threads into?

I'd like to thread my double gun so that it is able to accept rifled choke tubes, but I don't know if this is possible or not.

Cheers.

Measure the OD and bore diameter. I am not sure if Tru-Choke makes rifled tubes so you will probably have to use Winchoke, Invector or Rem Chokes) For those tubes the barrels must be at least 0.850 inches (OD) and the bore has to be concentric with the OD.

Most gunsmiths can ream and tap for a set of chokes for about $100. As was said, the biggest problem is if the bore and OD aren't concentric. this is especially true in older shotguns.
