Has anyone ever got in heck with forestry or the COs for cutting poles to set up a hunting camp in BC?

It's against the law to cut anything living down, but how seriously do they enforce it?

What you do is head into a BC access center or foresty/lands office and ask for a firewood permit. At least I think that's what it's called.
We gett them for free up here.
There is an office on main drag in clinton you could get one at on way up.
This more to cover your azz than anything else.
So much pine beetle kill and tonnes of dead pecker poles, perfect for camp set up and for firewood.

I don't think most hunters bother with the wood gathering permit, but if you are wanting to cover your bases, such a thing does exist ;)
I'll be burnin 6 to 8 cords of wood this winter to heat the shop so having the permit is handy for falling dead pine and fir ;)

My 5 cents, but I've never been in a piece of forest that didn't have an abundance of deadfall or standing dead timber to make due and then some. No need to cut something fresh.

Here in Alberta, you can get a firewood permit for $5 from the local SRD office that lets you cut anything not alive... if you're so inclined. I seem to remember something similar in BC when I lived there.

I had a friend get a ticket for cutting a pole while camping a couple of years back. The cop was an ass and looking to nail us on something. No word of a lie, he found the last pine needle still attached to it and that was enough for him to write my buddy up. Needless to say, get a permit if you can...
