Hi, I've been reading Shotgun Gunsmithing, and was reading through the chapter on external choke tubes, and saw the cutts compensator.

COOL!

They should teach more than acts and prove at the CFSC/CFRSC. Seriously, I found it difficult to stay awake during that course.

The only thing I ever saw before with a Cutts, was a Thompson.

Now I want one.

How expensive are they to get installed?

Anybody here got one?

You seriously want one of those things stuck on the end of your barrel? They are the reason choke tubes were invented. While you are at it, maybe you should cut that ugly rib off the gun also, then she'd be sweet. To each his own, I guess.

I've helped to install them berfore, Its not a big deal but it requires refinishing af the barrel. The collar that the compensator screws on to is soldered on the barrel and the heat usualy ruins the finish. I do believe that the parts are pretty expensive though.

cutts comp

Hi Bobby. I have two of them on my skeet guns. Great choke, away ahead of screw ins in my view. Lyman Products sell them. Yopu may also find a gunsmith who may have a used one. Cost including install should be in the range of $150.00. Enjoy. Dave.

Thanks Dave,

I called ellwood epps, and they do install them, but......:(

Regarding the Cutts Compensator, we cannot install this item on a Winchester Defender, due to the short barrel and the barrel ring which exists too close to the muzzle. However, we can install a WinChoke system into this gun, which will cost approximately $55.00 for the choke, and $155.00 for the reducer attachment. Labour cost for this work will be $100.00, with a turnaround timeframe of approximately 3 weeks once we receive the parts from Brownells (6-8 weeks).

Have one on the end of my model 12, love it
