CVA Blazer advise

New to muzzle loaders but decided it was time for something new. I am mostly a pistol/shotgun guy but picked up a CVA .50 cal blazer this week. It is missing the ram rod but I can fab something up. The gun shop guy was super awesome but not very knowledgeable on muzzleloaders. He set me up with Federal 209MZ primers, white hots preformed powder charges and Hornady bore driver FTX 290gr projectiles. I would like to get out in a few weeks and send a few down range. Just looking for advise on this set up and if it’s a good match of supplies?

I’m not familiar with your gun but your initial setup seems reasonable to me. So buy a range rod (because it has a threaded tip for loading/cleaning jags and a handle to make loading more comfortable) and get to the range. Before heading out, however, figure out how to pull a bullet in the event of a misfire … because that’ll happen eventually. Beyond that, start experimenting with different powders and projectiles and have fun.
