cva wolf vs t/c impact

I recently bought a muzzle loader. In the process of looking for what I wanted, I held many. The CVA Wolf and T/C impact were among those held. I must say that in muzzle loaders, you get what you pay for! Anything under $500, I felt was very heavy, poorly made, would not shoulder well for me, or poorly balanced.

I really liked the T/C Triumph Bone Collector and the T/C Encore Pro Hunter. I ended up getting a Pro Hunter here on the EE and LOVE IT.

I don't know what your budget is, but if you can only afford the beginner/entry level offerings, then be prepared for what I described. As I did not buy one of them, I cannot comment on their accuracy.

Also, If you cannot buy more than an entry level, then above all, DON'T hold a more expensive one!!! I had to sell something in order to afford what I really liked!

I have an Impact, but have yet to shoot it(hopefully next week-end). I could not justify spending a lot of coin on something I may or may not use every year. Only allowed one buck per year here, so if I shoot my buck during rifle season, I cannot go black powder hunting, and the black powder gun stays in the gun cabinet. The season here is also not very long, usually giving me a 3 day window to hunt, so spending $500 + is not an option for me.

After researching it quite a bit, I found the Impact got good reviews. I find it shoulders very nicely for me, and also has a one inch spacer which can be removed for smaller shooters, and it also has a nice fiber optic front sight(I do not think I will be using a scope) . I believe I paid $250 tax in for mine.

Read a couple reviews where they matched this gun up with 250gr. Barnes Spit-Fire T-EZ Sabots and Black horn 209 Powder and had very good accuracy, so that's what I will be trying for my first go at it.

Altho the cva wolf doesn't fit me I believe cva is the best bang for the buck. I have had 3 still have 2 only gave one to a close friend due to his financial state he couldn't afford to shoot a 22. I have 2 other brands as well. I've shot most of the ml platforms on the market from the cheapest ugliest to the hi end very ugly ones. I hated the bone collectors I have shot. They feel awkward
To me and with their slightly longer barrels feel muzzle heavy. If you budget is low I'd suggest the traditions buckstalker. I have one and love it. It balances well shoulders fast. It however is not a target gun expect 1.5"-2"groups at 100 yards which for a hunting rifle is fine. My cva's on most days will cloverleaf pattern paper at that range. Bullet selection plays a big role as well. I shoot a lot when I do so I avoid sabots and use powerbelt bullets. I love the platinum series very accurate and consistent whether I shoot 100gr or 150gr charges. Good luck. Muzzleloaders get addictive. I have 4 now and wouldn't hesitate to buy more
