I am located in Pictou County Nova Scotia and am looking for people from around my area to start up a Chapter for the CWTF. Looking to hopefully sometime get a harvestable number of turkeys in this province and need all the help we can get, if there is anyone on here from that area and would be interested send me a pm and we can chat.

Trevor.

Introduction of wild turkeys, to NS, was lobbied to the provincial government, by the NS Wildlife Association (their name has since changed), a few years back. It was turned down, as it was predicted that our native pheasants would become extinct, whereas the birds share a common diet.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the provincial government only deals with the provincial lobby group, on such issues. See link below.

NSFAH are helping out the NS chapters with this project now, I work with a guy in the Truro chapter and the last meeting with NSFAH they are going to help with funding and anything else they can do to help.

Which is funny because everything I have read says WTs were native to NS up until the early 1900s when they were hunted to extinction.

I too would like to help have them be reintroduced.

I can't find anything, via Google, that's says we ever had them. FYI - My response to the OP, with what I understand has already taken place, was just to let him know, had he not already contacted the NSFAH.

There's so friggen little to hunt in this Province as it is that I would definitely support the cause.

Now a couple of cattle-liners full of Yukon moose...Hmm...
