Hi I am new to this forum, and from what I have seen there is some pretty helpful info on here. So, I was wondering if anyone has actually done the cx4 rebarreling. I am considering buying a cx4 and having it rebarreled so its non restricted. I would love to hear anything and everything that someone has to say about the there results, the process, how the firearm shoots, etc.

Epps will make you a barrel for $499. This includes: machining from a blank, bead-blasting, bluing, registration change, and reassembly. The work is top notch!

I have a CX4 rebarreled by Epps. It is very accurate and they did do a good job. I just don't like how heavy the barrel is. So I ordered another CX4 from Wolverine and I am having it sent to Bits of Pieces to try out their lighter profile barrel. In a month or two I should be able to do a side by side comparison of the two.

hey mrsmitty, we are going opposite directions here. I was thouroughly disgusted with accuracy of noodle-thin original profile barrel and with 18.5" similar profile from bits of pieces. I had Barry to make me heavy barrel (as heavy as frame can take and muzzle weighted). Will be interesting to compare to your observations.

Answering original question - I am not familiar with Eppps jobs but mechanics are simple. Barrel is replaced with undoing one nut and tapping barrel out. Then you slide new barrel in and tighten the nut. Providing barrel was machined to exact same specs everything should work (cycling-ejecting-firing etc). Then verifier will examine the job and submit the paperwork for you. A few weeks later you have non-restricted Cx4.

Only one obstacle - special tool for barel nut. Very-very special.

Thank you everyone, I have received lots of good info. Also thanks to the other cx4 thread as well which had great info too.
I now plan to get the heavier barrel when I open my wallet for the gun as it seems the lighter barrel is not as accurate.
Does someone know of anyone else besides Ellwood Epps that produces the heavier barrel, so I could inquire with them and compare values. If i knew who Barry was I'd ask him about the barrel he produced for 22lr.
