Does anyone know of any Canadian dealers selling the new CZ 1911 A1 pistol?

Thanks.

Have not seen any anywhere.

I'm guessing these are value line Dan Wesson guns that they put the CZ name on because DW isn't a Value Gun sort of marque?

Is this really a DW gun then anyone have more details ?

I did a bit of reading after posting and that's the consensus. It's made in the US by DW and it's marked CZ to preserve the DW branding as a line of premium firearms.

Considering where the dollar is at I don't think IRG is a serious option any longer for anything but exotic goods. A bog standard 1911A1 doesn't seem like a good value to be buying through them

Is it Series 70 or Series 80?

That would be the deal breaker for me. If it's got Series 80 type firing pin block safety junk in it.

On another note, while I've owned CZ 75/85 pistols in the past, the announcement of yet another 1911 from a main stream gun maker pretty much gets a 'meh' from me.

It is a testament to the beauty of the original John Browning design, however.

Pretty much the same with me. I'd like to get 2 new Colts - a series 70 Government and a series 70 Gold Cup National Match.

I'd sell all but one of my cheapest 1911's (Remington or Norc) if I could get those... and I'd HAVE to in order to finance them. Just want a classic Government type pistol with a polished blue finish. Mmmmmmm....

My thoughts exactly. Series 80 is little more than a PR stunt for concerns over officers carrying Condition 1.

As I mentioned in another thread, another of Colt's mismanagement is the fact they have exactly three Series 70 1911s and the rest are Series 80 and no Government Model, no milspec M1911A1 and no Combat Commander.

True enough. Other companies are using Ti firing pins and heavy springs for concerns over having a "drop safety" of some sort, or simply doing nothing because it obviously wasn't an issue over the decades before the series 80.

Colt has a few other models that are interesting, but I won't buy another pistol with that Rube Goldberg contraption in it.

With their new National Match, perhaps they are figuring this out, finally, that there are a lot of traditionalists out there who prefer simplicity of the original mechanism
