Data please , Accuracy , and overall opinion of this rifle,
and if we can lets compare the shorter barreled American to the long Lux job.
Thanks very much I'm sure the results will interest most folks on the Forum. 22 mag only as we all know that the LR and 17 are shooters.:D

Cz452

I have one that is glassbedded and trigger jobbed. It shows promise of being very accurate but I think I have a scope problem. I replaced the scope this weekend but couldn't get to the range to try it. The two loads that seem the best are Winchester 40 grain HP and Remingtons 33 grain tan plastic tipped bullets. Sometimes 5 shoots are 3/4" at 100 meters and then the next group is 3-4". Next rifle overall. Sorry can't be more informative. Steve

.22 cz mag

It should shoot.I've got a bored out Mossberg 340 .22lr to .22mag and it performs beautifully. The Winchester Dyna Points are for plinking though and should not be relied on to zero a .22 mag.FWIW.

I've heard good things about the 22 mag CZs. If you're having weird grouping things try the Federal 50 gr at 100. I have found the lighter stuff (like the Remington tipped) just flies all over out of my Mossy, same might be true for the CZ.

Just ordered the CZ 452 LUX in 22 WMR, could someone confirm that it takes 11mm dovetail rings. Talked to the guy at wholesale , he said you could cover the test target results 5 shots with a dime,50 meters:D

dovetails

Levi

The Lux should take 11mm rings. It is my understanding that the only rifle in the CZ lineup using 3/8" dovetails is the American model. All other models take 11mm. BTW, watch the height of the rings you use. Due to the bolt handle and rear sights on these rifles they take a higher ring than other makes.

Steve

Right on 11mm it is, now thats the second time I have read of the clearance on these Lux models, first on the eye piece , but second on the bulky rear sight:mad:
I hope I can find out what rings will clear 40 obj over that rear sight without messen up the look and feel of the rifle.
Wonder if Leupold medium will, as I have a line on a set of those.

22 mag Accuracy

Levi: I finally got a break in the weather and made it to the range. The day was perfect with absolutely no wind. The results from the new scope installed cleared the air for me regarding this rifle. It was the previous scope that was causing the problems. Today I was shooting consistent 5 shoot 1-1/2" groups with usually 4 rounds around 1". CCI Maxi Mag +V 30 grain(?) bullets put several groups close to 1". One 10 round group had 8 rounds close to 7/8" with 2 fliers. CCI Maxi Mag 40 grain HPs were consistent 1-1/4" 5 shot groups. WW 40 grain HP's didn't shoot putting 3 rounds into 3/4" with 2 wild fliers consistently. Federal 30 Sierra load that has been discontinued was the best at 3/4". I thought I had some Remington plasitic tip bullets but actually didn't so those will have to wait until next time. Winchester Dynapoints were very good at 3/4" but very slow and shot low. These were chronographed at 1500 fps. The CCI Maxi Mags were 1850FPS while the +V's were 2200 FPS.

Most of the groups showed tight 4 shot patterns with outside fliers and when I chronographed the loads it showed the reason because all the loads showed very high extreme spreads in velocity. Noon were less than 100 fps ES.

I will try the Remington 33 grain loads asap and post the results with these because I feel these may be the best loads from previous test results.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks Steve,
what range were you shooting? 100 meters would be my guess, shoot any at 50 meters?
Those 30 grainers were pretty good, and excellent speed eh? A good coyote bullet ? or maybe the 40's would be a better choice.

22 mag

Sorry, but yes, I was shooting at 100 meters. I am going to have to do some research on the best bullets for either gophers or coyotes. I think the +V's would be better for gophers while the standard CCI 40 grain HP's might be better for coyotes. The Remington 33 grain plastic tip bullets have a good rep for accuracy while having upset problems when the velocities drop, however, this might be better for coyotes. Rick Jamison in Shooting Times years ago did a series on the expansion of 22 mag bullets. It appears that the +V expand to a flat pancake, the newer 30 TNT just fragment into pieces, while the 40 grain WW and CCI look like classic mushrooms. Unfortunately the newr bullets weren't available then. I haven't found any newer expansion test articles as most of the writers are concentrating on the 17 HMR. Steve

Great stuff Steve, will share my findings when I get the lux in , gonna bed ,floated, and slick up the trigger before heading to the range. And right now got a fullfield 2 for it but may sell that for more of a tgt job.
Take care
