you may have to settle for used.... but try this:
a. post a WTB ad on the EE
b. call Prophet River, the go thru a large volume of Cz's and sometimes bring guns out of the US
c. call P & D in Edmonton, etc.

AFAIK the 452s are being discontinued so the longer you wait the harder it will be to find one. I'd contact Prophet River, thats where I got mine.

Top: 452 American
Bottom: 453 Varmint

Note heavier barrel on Varmint

You can still buy the cz scout and put it in a larger stock. That is how I ended up with one.

Hmmm... I haven't seen many of these around either. I figure the CZ452 Scout will eventually be phased out along with the other 452 models. I hope they make a 16" 455 American, or at least a 455 Scout. The barrel swap is an appealing feature and it has reviews claiming the same accuracy as the 452. I also wouldn't mind getting a 455 Scout for my nephew.

I have owned a few 452s a 455, and two older Brnos. I like the Brnos best, followed by the 452s. I actually just purchased a 452FS because I always wanted a full stock rifle, and I wanted to get another 452 before they were gone. If you go with a 452 or a 455, get a Yodave trigger kit for around $20.

16 inch

I have one of these and it is a very handy sized rifle and is every bit as accurate as most of the others in the CZ line. I think the 16 inch has been discontinued for quite sometime now, however you might want to check an American website called Wittakers, as these folks seem to handle the most CZ rimfire sales in the USA. Chances of getting a used one in Canada are remote at best. IMHO. FS

I just bough a used/like new 452 scout in the EE. I had a reply to my ad the same night it was posted. Mind you it was a WTT ad, but the guy didn't want what I had but offered to sell me the scout.

Try a wtb ad, it's a great place to start.

This thread will drive up prices for Scouts and the other 16 inch 452 for sure.:D

IMO, CZ should increase their production of 16 inch models as this is the ideal length for scoped 22s, both for accuracy and velocity.

Aren't scouts made for little kids?

It's a youth rifle. It has a short LOP of about 12", but I bought one for use as a camping rifle. I'm going to extend the LOP with an aftermarket recoil pad, otherwise they are apparently just as nice as the longer adult versions. For someone like me who prefers to take small lightweight guns on my camping/fishing trips it's ideal. Clayne B, the guy who was in videos posted here not long ago shooting out to 500m uses one in the video.

Mikey, they in fact quite a bit lighter than the 16 inch American, the barrel is quite noticeably different. It's the better of the two rifles on my opinion. Actions are identical. Likely a pound or more of material less on the scouts barrel.

No, not at all. The CZ 452 16" american is a larger Diameter and less taper than the CZ 452 16" scout, neither are even medium diameter barrels.

Odd... I looked up a large online photo of a Scout and compared it to my American 16". The barrel contour looked the same, except the American has a barrel cap and the Scout has iron sights.

You need to compare them side by side.
