hi everyone, ill try to explain my situation as best as i can.
Ordered a cz 455 from lebarons here in montreal on dec 27 because they didnt have it in stock. The dude said it would take 3-4 days to come, ended up taking 2 weeks!
When it finally arrived and i got there i started to open the box and thats when my bad trip began. 1- it was a 452 lux not a 455 (yes i do know the vice versa debates i.e; which ones better)
2- the stock was a plain jane, no sweet lines, my airguns look better!
3- They had already registered it without me being there!
4- They gave me a lame excuse concerning their codes for their mix up (no apology!}
5- And of course they said "why dont you just take the 452 its better!"---I would of taken it but she didnt get me hot!!! the wood sucked---call me fussy? but i know what i want!!! The customer's always right in my book.
My question to all the Lux owners out there is, since i saw a plain jane stock how many of you guys or gals have sweet stocks (at least some sweet lines) i thought all Lux versions would have great wood!
Lebaron ordered me a new 455 lux, 10 days delivery they say-must be coming from europe {Markham, Ont} for that amount of time!!! worried this one'll be a plain jane too! Please God i'll be good lol
thanks for listening guys- had to vent --pressing keys not triggers-- B2012

Personally, I would have taken the 452 Lux and been glad.:)

I have two of them and two Americans. The wood on one Lux and one American is nice, while it is average on the other two.

I don't really care because I'm more concerned that my rifles shoot accurately. As long as the metal is good and I get tight groupings I'm happy.

BTW, the iron sights on the 452 Lux are way better than on the 455 in my opinion.

Don't get me started on the bolt or receiver changes.

Welcome to CGN. CZ wood is like a box of chocolates. My 453 has boring grain, but I still love shooting it.

CZ/BRNO,Sako,Tikka, its all hit or miss with wood today as good quality wood cost alot more now than 20 years ago, and most of the new up and coming shooters grew up with M-16's and don't give a s**T about wood! Thats the truth!!!Now what that store did to you was wrong, they could have rephoned the registry to put the gun back into their inventory, no problem! I see everday sales people doing as little as possible at their job(sighn of the times)? By the way you ended up with the better of the 2 guns, even though you didn't order it. CZ/BRNO made a bad mistake to please their accountants in making the 455, I know that the SAKO Quad was a huge flop in Canada, I think CZ will be in that same boat. Most guys who want a rimfire donnot want a switch barrel gun, if they need a 22lr and a 17HMR they go buy 2 seperate rifles? Anyway if you need a good gunshop or stockmaker to deal with give me a PM and I will suggest a couple great guys I deal with all the time, cheers DaleZ

Thanks for the quick replies guys
I even heard a rumour that cz was going to discontinue their 455 line and go back to the 452!!! who knows? btw-my friend has both models so ive held both but havent shot them. [nice wood, nice lines] 455 seems a little smoother overall but my friend swears by his 452 since its worked so well for him he says time will tell for the 455. if my 455 has half the lines his does ill be happy

One can only hope.

I have yet to see a cost-cutting manufacturing procedure end up being an improvement in any firearm.

I HAVE heard that there is one Canadian importer who refuses to bring the 455's in and insists on 452's.

Bless the man for taking a stand.:)

I'm one of those who grew up with walnut on my FNC1A1's back in the mid70's and I really (Bless me, Father for I have sinned :D ) love the synthetic stocks. I'm so sick and tired of oiling my stocks after returning from the field. When I saw the Brits with black plastic on their SLR's... I wanted to make some sort of a trade, but that was an unwise move. ;)

So now that I get to choose what stock I really prefer, I bought a CZ452 Style, Check it out!

It's my sniper trainer / wannabe rifle in .22LR.

Hope you get it all sorted out!

Cheers,
Barney

new update==Finally got my 455, and the stock is super sweet, action smooth, and the bonus is that they included the test target sheet which showed 4 groupings dead center and one just a tad to the right outside of the center circle. test sheet signed by cz rep, shot at 50 yards=open sights. happier than a pig in ===t!!! thnx for the reply Hungry, i know what u mean by the synthetic thing i saw a sako today .270 in a black and green synstok held it and fell in love, i know who remington tried to copy, just too expensive 1800.00, i like that 452 that you have, i was just a fussy guy who saw his friends 455 and fell in love with his savage looking stock and wanted the same thing but i got an even nicer looking one!
I have to admit that even though i wasnt initially happy with Lebaron, the service i received since then has been excellent and they will defenitely get my business again.
thnx B2012
