Hello, this my eleventh post, been a member for a short while, living in British Columbia. Just getting back into shooting after a 12 year absence (divorce, work, kids and grand kids), I recently purchased a CZ 452 Varmint .22, very well made and accurate. I installed a YoDave kit the same day I got the gun and put a Leupold VX II 4-12x40 AO scope. I've been going to the range on weekends using a variety ammo (Federal, Winchester, CCI, Lapua and SK). I've put about 2k rounds through it now and its showing a definite liking of Lapua, SK and American Eagle if I do my part. Actually surprising how many different types of ammo it shoots well. Yes, I have included pics :p and the target pics have a .22 LR shown instead of the usual dime or quarter. All targets are 25 yards and 5 shot groups.

Stick with the Lapua.

I find mine likes the Eley more than the Lapua but mine is also conditioned for the Eley.

As far as break in I have been told that you more or less just find a bullet that works well in your rifle and shoot it and only it and don't clean your barrel. The powder and wax fills all the imperfections and cleaning it takes all that out and then you have to start over which may take 100 or so rounds before the barrel conditions itself again.

May just be suspicious BS, but I have been sticking with this plan and my 452 just seems to shoot better and better.

Something does get thrown off when you switch ammunition, then switch back. I've seen it with my 452 American. You can watch the shots walk back to the original point of aim after switching back.

Nice shooting. My favorite are AE's, esp the 38gr. They seem to be the best of the cheap ammo.

Send me your email and I will send you the accurizing info assembled when I had mine.
The first day after the completed work I shot a .16, .25, and .36 at 50 metres.

Eley Sport (green box) shoots super duper in my American.

Get it out to 50 yds. You'll find there's a big difference in the stuff you can buy at CTC compared to the Lapua, SK & Eley. Everything shoots good at 20-25 yds.

Get out to 100 yards and velocity deviation also shows up as vertical stringing.

Some people use 50 yd groups as the standard by which accuracy of a .22 rifle is measured.

There is another school of thought that prefer 100 meter groups. I like that because it is easy to translate group size to Minute-of-Angle, like a 1.5 inch group is a 1.5 MOA group and sounds much more savvy:D

Having said that, a CZ452 Varmint should make at least a few sub-MOA groups with ammo it likes, on a good day for wind and a good day for the shooter (no hangover, no morning coffee).

DAMN that's a pretty rifle.

I shoot an Anschutz 1451 (entry-level field rifle) with a Busnell Trophy 3-9X scope. I get pretty impressive groupings at about 100 yards with it, and I use Federal Gold Medal. It'll shoot everything pretty well at 25 yards, but the longer you go (as others have suggested) the gun and it's ammo start to make a real difference.

Anyhow, my rifle doesn't hold a candle to yours in the aesthetics dept., especially when I'm using it! (6'2" tall, over 300lbs.!)

nice rifle, i have been eyeing the same thing for a while now, move to 50 yards and you'll be able to judge accuraccy a bit better,
good luck

Nice looking rifle. I have the same scope on my Quad and really like it. 50 yards is a good distance to shoot with the 22.

I dare say the CZ 452 is a 100 yard rifle. I always shoot it at at least 100. 1" groups are the norm in calm winds. Every once in a while I go to 200 yards. 300 is random, I am lucky to hit a sheet of plywood at that distance.

Again quality ammo is a must, everything looks good at 25 yards, it really opens up at 100 and beyond.

Made it out to the range today to sight in with the new scope (Leupold VXII 6-18X40 AOT). Started at 25 yards and then moved out to 50 yds. Happy with these results, they were the best today. Got to lay lay off the smokes and coffee for breakfast :D Also had some fun shooting clay birds at 200 yds. once I figured out how high to hold over them.
