CZ 452 Doesn't Eject Last Shot

Bought a CZ 452 Super Match in .22LR with a ten round steel magazine and tried it out at the range with different ammo. My technique with iron sights is nothing to brag about so I won’t mention the size of the groups.
Seems that Winchester Super X is too long and does not feed reliably from the magazine- the tips the rounds snag on the magazine wall on the way up. Old CCI Velocitor feeds fine but isn’t very consistent on paper- maybe it’s the age of the ammo? Remington Yellow Jacket is okay and Viper is even better and produced the best groups. Now the problem is that with the CCI and Remington ammo, the last of the ten rounds in the magazine feeds, fires and extracts but doesn’t eject- the case ends up sitting on top of the magazine in the open action. Every round ahead of it has no problem. I can’t figure out what’s going on. Anybody want to chime in with their thoughts on this?

Maybe by the time of the last shot the chamber has really heated up, and possibly that specific ammo is made of a cheaper thinner casing....causing it to expand more, making it extract from the chamber slower and not popping out.....?

Sounds like your mag is sitting too high in the receiver and the lips or follower of the mag are catching the rim as it comes out of the chamber. Sounds like a defective mag - I would recommend a fix but I can't see it to confirm if it is the lips or the follower but I am leaning towards the follower as it doesn't jam/misfeed. You could try seating the mag and pulling it down and away from the receiver when before you shoot but I recommend you try another mag to confirm the problem.

:agree:100%

I like the plastic molded mags myself. they function flawlessly and every one is more or less the same.

I have a plastic 10 round mag in my 452, and while I would have opted for steel just out of principal, in use the plastic mag seems just fine. Worst case scenario you buy one and have yourself a spare mag.

Mine doesn't have the most forcefully ejection either. Sometimes have to tip out the occasional shell.

Always blamed the scope mount over the breach but if yours is doing it without a scope on there must be more to it.

make sure that the extractors have a firm grip on the casing. Should be able to snap a case under the extractors with the bolt out and it should stay held in place somewhat firmly. The left extractor will work as the ejector spring and if it's not loaded enough it will not fling the case hard enough to clear the action.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks! I can always use a spare mag so I’ll probably order a new plastic one. Meanwhile I'm going to take a close look at the follower and test to see how well the extractors grip the case.
