I recently acquired a LH CZ 452 American in 22lr and it doesn't really like to eject shells very well. I have 2 other LH 452s, a Lux in 22lr and another American in 17hmr and both eject shells well. Is there an easy fix to this?

Have you inspected the bolts of the known good working ones compared to the questionable one ?
Also, have you tried cleaning the chamber of the one giving you grief at the moment ?
CZ's have a tighter chamber than most 22 rimfires...dare I suggest a match chamber ???
Rob

Maybe check the extractors for correct left and right side install (sharp one on the side of the ejection port). Is it possible the factory, or a previous owner took the extractors off and re-assembled backwards?

Did you check the screw holding the ejector post piece? If it was assembled with some gunk in there perhaps it might be slightly out of alignment? Can't hurt to take that apart, clean everything, re-assemble and see what happens.

I have not compared sibe by side, but I have thoroughly cleaned it with no improvement....

I've not shot a 452 just 455's and 457's the only match
chamber that I know of is the 457 MTR / LRP .

My 452 and 455 and my buddies 453 all had tight chambers.
I no longer have a CZ and the 453 was sold off after the experiment was completed.
We have to use Dewey Rods and attachments in order to clean the bores....
I not saying they "are" match bores, as I really do not know.

I noticed that too on mine. took the ejectors both out of the bolt and cleaned them spotless .reassembled it works well as new now. cleaned up where the ejectors sit in the face of the barrel that area seems to build up with debris also.

OP, could you please give us some more detail to help narrow the focus? What does "doesn't really like to eject shells very well" mean?

e.g. Are the extractors pulling the fired case out? We need to first know that. If the case is stuck, then I don't know what the issue is. If the extractor claws are pulling it out OK, then my next question is knowing that the sharp claw is on the port side (the rounded claw is on the inside). Has the sharp extractor claw been damaged? If the extractors are all good, and the spring clip holding them is on properly, then my next question is about how or if the case the case being partially flung out the port and staying in the raceway? In a very slow bolt pull does the rim of the case engage the ejector post and does the case pivot up to begin the ejection and then fall back inside? Is there any rim engagement with the ejector post?

Maybe some close up photos could help.

Sorry, my post was rather vague....

Claws are in the correct orientation. It will extract casings fine. Extractor slots in the barrel are also clean. Working the bolt aggressively, it will eject the shell about 1" from the gun, to where it clears the action but basically falls straight down. About 35% of the time though, it will drop the shell right back into the action, especially if it is the last round in the mag. And if the action is canted to where the action ejection port is facing up, itll normally cause the casing to land in the action again.

I'll upload pictures tomorrow after work!

In both my CZ 452 Lux and 455 Lux and using 5-rd polymer mags, if I am using CCI ammo the last CCI round (#5) will stovepipe and fail to feed almost every time - the nose of the round jams into the barrel face high above the chamber, despite the fact that rounds 1 to 4 feed fine. And this is consistent with the six polymer mags I own, so its not an issue with one bad mag. Extremely irritating. Not an extraction problem, its a feeding problem.

However that never happens with SK, or Lapua, or Ely ammo, all of which feeds and extracts just fine from my 5-rd polymer mags, all six of them. Its the CCI ammo that does not like the magazine spring or follower on that 5th round. It appears my CZ's like European ammo, and that's all I ever buy now (mostly SK).
