CZ 452 in .22 Mag..any experience?

How many rounds did you fire through it or was it used. I talked another guy today and he said it took a while but after his broke in it tightened up to 0.25 inch groups.

The cz had about 150 rounds fired out of it of three different types of ammo. Just did not group like the Marlin did. The Cz was new at the time as was the Marlin.

I have had a couple dozen CZ 452's in all versions (Lux, FS, American and Varmint) and cartridges (.22 LR, .22 WMR, 17 HM2 and 17 HMR)... they were all accurate rifles... the single most accurate of the lot was a 452 Varmint in WMR... the idea that the WMR cartridge is inherently inaccurate has not been my experience in any brand and model I have shot it in... and these days, the ammunition is much better than what we were shooting four decades ago.

I have one. The first thing I had to do with it was open the barrel channel up a bit so the barrel wasn't touching and glass bed the action. Mine can also be fussy about the ammo it likes best.

Mine doesn't like the Winchester white box Dynapoints. It likes just about everything else and really shines with the CCI offerings. Especially the loads with the hollow point TNT bullets.

It's my go to Rocky Mountain Snowshoe Hare rifle out to 150 m.

I find it ergonomically correct for my mid frame stature. They do have stiff but crisp triggers that can be fixed with one of the kits available. Easy to mount a scope onto and once everything has settled down it has stayed settled down for the past ten years.

IMHO they're excellent rifles. Like every off the shelf rifle, you takes your chances. The best thing about these rifles is they respond positively to easy fixes.

You make me chuckle hc.
Bringing back a memory of a target of mine back in the era of age you type.
Five shots at 200 yards at the range down the coast.
Barnett's ring a bell to anyone?
Dad bought me the old Brno 21H in 8x57.
Five rounds tighter'n a twoonie I think.
Old Weaver 4x..........chit, I'd be lucky to make that at a'undrittit now.

My all time favorite bolt.22mag was a 452 Lux. Kept it open sighted and was hunting marmot under 40 meters with it. That was fun for me and deadly for them... I now have a Marlin 782 and before that a Zastava Z-5. Love all 3 of them. Sight radius of the CZ is generous and gun is sleek. They have the best open sights of them all. But if money is tight a Marlin or a Zastava are great choices to.
.....^^^^^^^...........what the man said....zastava z5 the best kept secret of the rimfiire world...mine is right up there in the accuracy dept with the 452 and the Walther kkj in 22 mag .
