How good are the open sights on the Cz 452 super exclusive? The one I have was scopes but the rings where really high so that the objective could fit above the sliding back open sights. This made the cheek weld very awkward for me. I bought a set of medium Leupold rings but now the only scope that fits it is an old weaver k4. Which there is nothing wrong with that at all, however I’m wondering if I wouldn’t be better off just leaving it open sights as long as they are fairly accurate. What’s your experience with them?

I have the same iron sights on my cz 453 lux. It is always gonna be an iron sight gun s long as I own it. I can shoot real wel with them iron sights. Peep sight would be even better. I would not scope a lux rifle

I scoped all of my Lux rifles... my eyesight has deteriorated to the point where irons are not an option.

Nothing wrong with scoping it if your eyes need the magnification. It doesn’t look ugly or anything. The scope looks nice on the cz uou have hoytcannon. I got the same rifle. Set trigger is super great!!

The CZ 453 Lux is wearing a Leupold VX-2 4-12X40mm AO with fine duplex reticle and the CZ 452 Lux is wearing a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28mm rimfire with fine Duplex reticle, this one fits nicely behind the rear tangent sight.

Just got the 455 ultra lux in .22 lr and the sights are surprisingly good even for my older eyes and with a sling either standing or sitting I shoot better than any others I've ever used in my prime except the peep sights on my Lee Enfield No. 7. My UL came with a 2 lb trigger which made me realize how bad my 455 varmint TH trigger was, it was at 4.4 lb when I checked so snipped some spring off it and down to 3 lb now. I bought a rail for it to give me options for mounting and also have Talley and Leupold 11mm mounts for my scopes but I can access products from the USA where there's much more available. Still would like an Anschutz though but have 3 CZ products now in just 2 years!

The irons on my 452 lux may be the best irons on any rim fire I have ever shot. Try and see how they work as u can always scope it later.

I would not scope a lux rifle

I agree, it doesn't make a lot of sense to buy one with the intention of scoping. Cheek weld will be wrong, the irons you paid extra for become useless extra weight, and the scope looks like an after thought on the rifle.

CZ specifically makes quite a few guns better suited for the job with "clean" barrels intended for mounting a scope, which have scope-friendly stock geometry.

Except that the Lux fits me perfectly, with a comfortable and consistent anchor when scoped as above... your blanket statement has some holes in it.

Having to adapt the stock to get proper cheek weld is a common occurrence with the Lux (The poster directly before me even mentioned this). It's great that it works for you, but there's a reason CZ says it is "Designed to excel when used with open sights". The long sight radius and butt stock geometry were designed with this use in mind.

Don't get me wrong, I shoehorned a scope on my 527 carbine to get some more usability out of it. The setup looked goofy, but plenty of people do it, and it works fine.

The scopes above do not "look goofy" and I do not have to fit my body unnaturally to the rifle, the fit is perfect for the scope height... conversely, every American and Varmint I have had required high rings to shoot comfortably... not everyone is built the same... again, blanket statements regarding fit are not valid in all cases.

My
Lux received a scope a soon as it arrived. I can not shoot open sights as well as I can w/ a scope. It fits me very well! In my view, why pay & look for accuracy, then hamper myself with infierior sight. Good news is it is yours and you get to do exactly what you want. You can always change back to what you like. Good luck & enjoy.

@hoytcannon. Hey how do you like your vx 2 6-18 fine reticle scopes comparing it to the vx 2 3-9 efr scope? I just ordered the 6-18 without having seen one or used one. Hope I like it for rimfire target shooting. I would like the vx 3 6.5-20 target dot model for rimfire!!

I've got the CZ 455 standard, and I'm not a fan of the open sites. I put a little weaver scope on it, and it is very accurate, but I find the whole gun an awkward fit for me.
