I've been searching for a long-barreled .22 for a long time and just yesterday found a CZ 452 Ultra Lux at North Pro Sports in Saskatoon. Then, last night, I got an SOS from my sister (now in South America). Since food on her table is more important than a new toy in my safe, I am putting the word out here.

The cool thing about the Ultra Lux is its 28 1/2 inch barrel. From what I have read, if you shoot subsonic rounds, it is quieter than an air rifle. No silencer needed! They are now out of production.

I am not affiliated with North Pro or any other firearms dealer or manufacturer. In fact I had never heard of them before yesterday. Get hold of them at northprosports.com.

Wow, you are an awesome brother! Best of luck with her emergencies, and here's hoping you get a lucky windfall and end up purchasing that Ultra Lux back out from under us :)

Good job.... there are a lot of things more important than guns...

I have always found the Ultra Lux "too" long... the standard Lux is just right. .. IME.

A few other site sponsor/ non site sponsor's websites also have the ultra lux listed for $30-$80 less. I ended up purchasing mine through irunguns, as it was a good price and they also had the 452 scout for a good price.

I found a 452 lux new at reliable gun in vancouver last year right after I got my pal. $519! Wish I had the funds available then...

Hope everything is alright with your family

That sale by Irunguns is where I first heard about the Ultra Lux 452. I tried to buy one but they were sold out.

My sister moved to Ecuador a year ago to live where there is no winter and the cost of living is much lower than here. Trouble is Ecuador uses American dollars as currency and her pension is in Loonies. I'll need to help for a few months while she corrects misapplied tax rules that make her pay through the nose. (Gringos are fair game everywhere in Latin America.) It takes months to get anything done in the land of manana.

I'm not being selfless -- if she can hold on for a couple of years, I will be able to visit for two or three months each winter, using her apartment as a base from which to explore. I did that with a family my father knew in Australia thirty years ago; it was one of the best times of my life.

Right now she is paying $300 a month for a two-bedroom in a brand new, modern building and just found out she is overpaying. I don't know about Okanagan but where I live a single room in a flophouse costs twice that.

Man, you literally can't even get a parking spot for $300/mo in Calgary...
