Took a look at the CZ 452 Varmint .22 rifle yesterday, looks very nice, can anyone give me their experiences with one of these?
I also looked at the American, but with the heavy barrel, I think I like the varmint model better.
Thanks for reading, Gunmedic.

Pop over to the rimfire formum (below) and you'll get some good responses. Personally, I'm more a fan of the Lux, but they are all great rifles.

I just bought a CZ 452 Varmint in 22lr from a fellow Gunnut.
It is mounted with a Mueller Tactical scope and BKL 257 rings..
My passion is handguns, but I wanted a 22 rifle to plink with at the range.
I really enjoy having a scoped 22 to shoot 50 and 100 yards.
The target shown was at 50yds.
I have since installed the Brooks trigger kit(U.S. $14) and this trigger is very sweet now.
No creep, very light for shooting off the bench.
A slight bit of overtravel, but that can also be remedied.
The rifle has a nice, hefty weight to it,great for a bench rifle.
I'm going to give this rifle a two thumbs up.
Accurate and decently priced .

I have a 452 Varmint in a 17 HMR and its a very accuate rifle for me, I think the American is a nicer looking piece and likely shoots as well as my Varmint. FS

I have shot the Varmint before as well as other CZ rimfires (American and style) and have been very impressed with the accuracy and cratsman ship of both of these guns. One thing I found thout was that the wooden stocked versions that I have shot required some sort of preassure pad to seperate the forend stock from the barrel. After doing this with an elastic band or something similar both shot very good. My style did not seem to need any modifications out of the box to shoot good.

I have an American .22 and a Varmint 17 HMR. The last groups I shot with the American measured 0.6" @ 50M using Win Power Points. I suspect not too many .22's in the CZ price range will shoot better. I don't see any advantage of the heavy barrel in terms of accuracy in this case.

Where is the best place to pick up one of these CZ 452 Varmit models? I will probably be looking to buy one sometime in July. So far the only source I am aware of is gunsandthings.com. Thanks.

both

I have both a Varmint and an American, both in 22lr. Both shoot equally well, with the Varmint being a little more finicky on the torque of the action and barrel lug screws. The Varmint uses an action and barrel lug screw, and the American uses 2 action screws. Accuracy is about the same, but my Varmint seems to shoot better than the American at 100 yards. For the examples I have seen, the American has nicer wood, mine included. Sooner or later, you'll probably end with both, I did. Good Luck

Not really related but I just "stole" my Father's Brno Mod 5 for my new target/ plinking rifle. Bought brand new in 1970 probably not more than 200 rnds through it.
