Hey guys,

This is my first ever thread here on CGN and I hope my question doesn't come across stupid. I was just wondering what's the point of buying the CZ452 for roughly $550 when I can buy a .308 or 30-06 Rem700 for only $100 more? Wouldn't it make more sense to buy the gun that has more fire power?

Nothing is more valuable then a good 22lr. You can shoot 350-400 rounds for the price of 20 cheap 308 rounds. Its good for small game, plinking, low recoil, low noise. There are many many good reasons for a good 22 rifle.

price your ammo out.........then decide if you want to shoot 10 rounds a weekend or 1000 rounds per weekend........then buy the appropriate rifle....

I own a couple CZ 452 and not one Rem700.
Sort of like comparing a $10,000 car to a $10,000 truck.
All depends on what your taste buds are and what your purpose
for the wheels are.

Welcome to CGN.
Study long and study hard............

dammit loooky........your new avatar keeps throwing me, especially when you go back and forth on the slurred type........happy new year buddy....

So if you went out and fired 300 rounds , in a few hours, how much would the ammunition cost for the 308win or 30-06? Could you even shoot 300 rounds out of a 30-06 in a few hours, without the recoil causing a flinch? How many rounds do you suppose that a 30-06 barrel will tolerate, before throat erosion causes a loss of accuracy? Would a 30-06 be a good choice for starting out a new shooter, say a younger child, or a small woman, that has never fired a rifle before? Now substitute 22lr for 30-06, in those same questions, and compare the answers.

Thanks for all the good info everyone! I never really expected the amounts of response so fast, keep it up CGN!! All your comments make lots of sense, guess the 308/30-06 should be saved for hunting season instead of the range!

Pretty sure there's plenty of 308 vs 30-06 threads around, the last thing I want to do is annoy people more with another thread, I'll just use the search bar :)

Haha the multi-quote is right beside the "Reply With Quote" don't know how you can miss it

You still need to practice with a centerfire, you just don't need to shoot it as much as most people shoot rimfires.

For sure, I would never go hunting without target practice first

Here's my $0.02...I was never really interested in 22lr rifles (started off with HG's). When I branched out into rifles I picked up .223's, 308's, and 7.62x54R. After about 30 mins and 30-40rnds I'm done(bad shoulder).
I now own a couple of 22lr bolts (one scoped one with irons) and can shoot them for hundreds of rounds at a fraction of the cost and the shoulder feels just fine.
Rimfire's are damn fun to shoot...and CZ makes a fine rimfire for ~$500

And the multi quote.

Because....this place is called GunNUTZ. People buy what they like, budget and imagination are the only limiting factors.
