Hey everybody. I've owned a 452 Varmint for awhile now and it functions flawlessly with all mags and ammo I've tried it with. I recently purchased a 455 Lux to be my ironsighted gopher rifle. First day I took it out I used the ploymer mags (10 and 5 round) and Win 555 and it functioned flawlessly as well. Second day I was using the same ammo and tried a steel magazine I had from my 452 and it would not feed the rounds at all. The bolt would miss the rim of the case and contact the brass about halfway down the cartridge and put a big dent in it and bind the bolt. Not a big problem as I only have 1 steel mag.

Also, the 455 would feed Blazers, but it would snag a bit and sheer a bit off the top of the bullet below every time. Functions perfect with Win, but has trouble with Blazers. Anyone have this problem?

Other than these issues it's a great rifle. accurate and the trigger is far superior than my 452 was out of the box. I may not even bother with a yodave kit on this one.

I wound up having to bend the front lip of the steel mag outward a bit, otherwise it wouldn't feed on mine, as the bullet wouldn't come up high enough. Then it was difficult to fit the mag into my 453 lux. So, I think that I'll just file the front lip off entirely. The mag functions perfectly in my 455s.

I thought 455 and 452 mags weren't compatible.
I picked up some spare polymer mags for my 455. The package was labeled 452 and I have found them to be identical. This only applies to 22lr. If you're looking at 22wmr or 17hmr, they are not compatible.

Glad I saw this thread. I was hoping to find some metal mags for my 455 and now know to expect to have to file off a bit to make it work.

I have a new 455 22 lr came with 5 round plastic mag the dealer sold me a 10 round steel marked 452 on box Works fine My older 10 round steel mag from ? exact rifle escapes me , has the same issue , feeds some brands and not others . Bolt slides over the base rather than stripping off a round . I thought maybe it was a weak spring . What part of the mag are you filing down ? I am unclear as to the solution you are proposing .

I'd like to tell a story... When I got my first CZ 455, it came with a steel mag, and it fed nothing right. I'd have to take a nail, and push down on the rear of the bullet that was supposed to be stripped off to pop the bullets to the top. This especially happened on round 5 on the 10 round mags that I had. So, I took a crescent wrench, and bent the front piece forwards slightly right where the round feed into the gun at the top of the mag. Then, no matter what 22 rounds I fed through it, it fed properly in my 455s. The 453 however will not fit the magazine into the gun adjusted like that. Turns out that the mag was binding the bullet at the top front of the mag.
So, I'm going to file the whole front lip down, and see how that works on one of the magazines. I"ll do one and show a pic. Report how it works.
