I just bought a CZ 455 FS and would like to know from you current owners, what are the typical mods to improve it's function? I am not looking for anything drastic such as complete part replacements .. just polishing etc. and would like to keep it more or less stock.

To start with, I polished the bottom of the striker (where it contacts the sear as the bolt cycles) to a mirror finish and this made the bolt cycling extremely smooth. Very nice improvement.

I will also be removing the sear to polish/debur as well. This will smooth the trigger even more and help with the bolt transition to get past the 'locked back' position with less effort.

What else?

Thanks.

The only other upgrades I know of are the yodave trigger spring and shim kit and the DIP metal replacement parts. I never bothered polish my firing pin, instead i bought a couple bricks of ammo

Any You tube vids on this ..I'm thinking of doing the same on a new 455.

One thing that got to me was the cheap plastic fore end cap. I replaced it immediately!
Got one in Canada from:

The first thing to do is to shoot it. Then worry about making modifications. If it shoots as well as it should -- and the FS models are by reputation among the best CZ rimfire shooters -- you need only to adjust the trigger to liking. You can do this by adjusting the trigger spring nut or replacing the spring. Most 455's don't even need the shims. There is an DIP adjustable sear for the 455 but its not needed as the trigger system, while simple, is very good. The bolt will become smoother with use. Some shooters replace the striker spring with a stronger one; but it's not necessary unless you are someone who must mod for its own sake. You can get an aluminum magazine well but it doesn't do anything for the performance of the gun. If you get one, you can tell others that you modded the mag well. The 455 comes with torx action screws so you don't need to change them. I suppose if you want to go nuts in modifying an FS, you could get a Lilja barrel. If they don't make one for the FS (I haven't looked), you can use an American barrel configuration.

I would double check the torque on the two barrel screws. I believe I used 30 in/lbs or little less on my 455s that I no longer own. Don't over tighten these 2 screws. I would also check the crown under a magnifying glass and if it looks ugly (chatters from a cutter) you might want to polish it.

Did anyone free float the barrel on their FS? I notice on mine the stock makes contact along the length of the barrel at several places.
