What kind of value would you put on this?

I have a CZ 455 American Red in 17hmr. It has a factory muzzle break, blueing is beautiful with no scratches and the stock is an easy 9/10.

It sat in the back of the safe for the longest time, has about 300 rounds through it now. I can't member what I paid new. I'm thinking of putting it up for adoption.

Edit: preparing for sale...

If you find someone who Needs a 17. . . and saying 'it's not . . . ' just shows HV isn't always the best choice.
With the cost of ammo now that's a big ask, esp with the 457s out at that price, too. 17 is ca 3x the cost of 22, and there's not a lot of 'accurate' 17 - not a lot of diff flavours at all. If you have a stash of ammo to 'go with' that'd help. If you check online at GP and auctions you'll get an idea of the market.

I’d say it’s worth between 500-600$ range
That range is fair without the scope. I would check out a couple of other sources such as Fun-Post and and see what others are asking. I would likely ask $650-675 and be open to offers. I sold one with the Canadian Stock but no compensator for $600 about three years ago. Look up wat a 457 in 17 HMR is selling for to get an idea of what some might be willing to pay for it.

Gun shop in Manitoba is selling a used cz 455 blued 17hmr for $800! I have a stainless steel one in new condition that I’m selling. Then I should get $800 too since the stainless steel models are hard to find

sold cz455 standard 22lr in February for $500 shipped. I also have a cz455 scout 16" 22lr which is currently in a cz455 lux stock and I have a mini set in 22wrm which is how it is currently configured.

I saw those scopes on sale recently, but for the gun alone....I'd have said asking price $650-ish/sell price $600? Never had a muzzle brake on a rimfire, nor have I seen a CZ HMR NOT shoot well....so not sure what to tell you on this one.

457 models are pretty much superior in every way. If i was to spend $600 on a 455, i’d rather add $50 and get a 457 model. 455 American with a thin barrel is worth no more than $450-$500 to me. Heavy barrel or Lux with sights $50 more.

I'd agree with this^ statement. I've handled a bunch of 455s but never shot one. I like BRNOs and 452s, but didn't look back at CZ until the 457s came along. Enough improvements to warrant trying one. Now I have no hesitation recommending them.

Always supply and demand; people are buying them; some are buying them to build precision or bench rest rifles (this is what I did). What I do know is after owning a bunch of brno, and now my third 455, and having handled and shot a couple 457s:

I love the bolt throw on the 457. The two I shot had good triggers, but not "great" triggers.

Bolt operation in the 455s (not just mine) feels just a bit slicker than the 457s (my opinion),

My 452 and the Brno's I have owned have slicker actions than the 455.

While not super easy, trigger jobs with the YoDave kits give amazing results in the 452s 455s. 457s are adjustable (to an extent) but it seems a lot of serious shooters are buying aftermarket triggers.

455s and 57s use the same barrels so no real difference in accuracy.

IMO, any of these rifles are a good deal at a fair price; but even if you over pay a bit for what you want, two years from now they will be worth more.

I do agree, I have a well used 455 and the bolt is smooth like a hot knife in butter and you can cycle the action with just the index finger. 457 not so much. 457 tends to show a lot of scratch marks on the bolt body, sort of groves whereas 455 is very smooth and shows no groves or tool marks. I still do look at ads for 455 and buy them or 455 parts if they are for a very very low price. I built a bunch of target rigs from 455 parts bought for the equivalent cost of peanuts over last several years. But I do like the actions of 457 much more especially the 457 60 degree bolt throw and adjustable triggers. Stock configuration also seems to be improved over 455.

However, I do like the stainless 455 actions and barrels. The 455 stainless thumbhole 17 HMR with 16" heavy stainless barrel is just beautiful. I scored two brand new ones recently in the space of two months, one on EE here and one on Switzer auction in Bancroft. Both serials only 3 digits apart!! One is already wearing a very heavy stainless 22LR IBI barrel and the other retained its short 16" heavy stainless 17HMR barrel. Those two are very pretty indeed shoot lights out.

i wish 457 came in this configuration
