I have noticed many CZ 455 up for sale in EE over the last few months... considering these are the new replacement for the CZ452... whats the deal... guys don't like them.. is the quality not up to the 452???

I've heard there is a few quality differences between the new production changes and the previous 452's. Ive handled both and they seem very fair but time will tell. I love the 452/453's.

You cant go wrong with a CZ rimfire.

No noticeable difference.

I own both.

In 22lr the plastic plug that fills the magwell is kinda cheesy, but both the 452 and 455 have plastic magwells anyways.

My 455 Standard in .22wmr is probably my favourite gun right now though!

I have a 452 and 455 and don't see much difference as far as workmanship. Good rifles and i wouldn't hesitate to buy another oif either model, god forbid a 453 gets set in front of me.

There is a considerable amount of information on Rimfire Central.
A few are using the swap out barrel option and installing a Lilja barrel.
Most comments are positive.
Personally I could "overdose" on CZ's. I have a 452 American and 452 Varmint.
With the recent arrival of a Leupold BR 36X, it is currently on the varmint.
The next trip to the range may see it on the American as that will wring out the accuracy potential of both.
I keep looking at a 455 American at HUB Sports as the wood is nicer versus the Beech stock on mine.

I currently have a 452 American 16", 452 American 22", 452 FS, and a 455 Varmint all in .22lr and they are all beauties and they all shoot wonderfully. When the 455 was first brought out there were some teething problems but the ones you find now-a-days have those issues worked out. I'd get another 455 without hesitation. The ability to drop in a Lilja barrel yourself is a very nice feature.

Thanks,
Cal.

OP, they're very similar. Most of the differences are not significant, despite what some might say. Here are all the ones I can remember:

The open sights on the 452 and 453 FS and Lux are tangent sights instead of the buckhorn ones on the 455, which is a lot nicer in my opinion.

The actions on the 455 are prettier and slightly higher quality.

The trigger might be slightly better on the 455. (but throw a yodave or Rifle Basix on either and the difference is irrelevant!)

The barrel on the 455 is pinned, instead of threaded like the 452. In theory, threaded is better, but I haven't heard any complaints about the 455's accuracy.

The pinned barrel allows you to swap calibers: the 455 allows you to swap between .17 HMR, .22 LR, and .22 WMR in the same action, not to mention use Lilja barrels :)

The bolt on the 452 has two lugs; the bolt on the 455 has only one. Again, two lugs is theoretically better, but I haven't heard any legitimate complaints. These are rimfires, after all: you barely even need one lug ;)

The 452 Lux has a schnabel foreend: the 455 Lux doesn't have a proper schnabel.

The 455 only uses 11mm dovetails: I believe some of the 452 had different dovetails, which would be really annoying if you owned a few, and needed different rings. (edit: some had 3/8" dovetails)

Some of the 452 editions haven't been released yet for the 455. If I remember right: the Supermatch, Silhouette, Style, Ultra Lux, Trainer, and single-set trigger Lux... possibly some left-hand editions too. Likewise, there are new 455 editions: single-set thumbhole, Tactical Trainer, and the Evolution.

There are a few other cosmetic differences like the torx-screws. More details here in this picture-filled comparison thread: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=32042.0

I would simply not buy a 455 for that reason, two screws holding the barrel in place, call me paranoid, but I can see problems with torquing the barrel once it has been removed, and I can well imagine mr, bubba having a go at this.

For sure, I totally understand where you're coming from. I was trying to be pretty neutral with my comparison, it's up to everyone to decide for themselves :)

The plastic mag well is cracked on my 455, other than that, I like my CZ. The grip angle seems more comfortable on 455 than 452.

I own a 455 supermatch. I have a thread on the upgrades I'm doing to it...
