Quick review on my CZ 457 American Beech.

Here is a link to an awesome review on this particular model.

When my rifle arrived I was surprised at how nice the wood work was. I took the stock off, removed the barrel, cleaned er good and then put everything back together.

The barrel grub screws I torqued to 35 in/lbs., and the action screws to 25 in/lbs.

Mounted a Bushnell Legend 3-9X40 scope - Leopold medium height CZ 11mm dovetail rings.

This model comes with a polymer trigger guard, with a metal insert (washer) where the action screw goes. This I needed to upgrade. There are some tactical looking upgrades, but I really like the traditional look of the factory trigger guard. After much googling I found a steel OEM set. It is $60, and fits perfectly, here's the link...(at the time of posting it says there are 3 left)

Here are pictures of the rifle and some of the groups I shot. Groups were shot at 60 yds. with a 5-10km/hr. head wind. The small squares on the target are 0.25".

The top left group was the last group I shot, the wind was almost down to nothing. I called it a day after that.

(target got beat up by shrapnel a bit, I checked zero on a small rock right beside it)

Have you tried Norma tac 22? I've had great results with those and they are cheap when on sale. Same rifle

Last batch of tac22 was a real disappointment; neither my 455 Super Match nor my 452 shoot them well; the previous brick shot like a laser. I'm back to CCI STD. Both rifles shoot the Std as well as the Eley above.

I only shoot high-velocity hollow point ammo. I only shoot paper when sighting in, most of this rifle's time will be in the gopher patch.
CCI Mini-Mag HP has been really good in the past, but the ones I've bought after 2020-2021 have been no better than most of the bulk pack stuff.
The Aguila HV HP group around 1" - 1.25", easily good enough for gophers.

I find that with 22 ammo, you can buy accuracy. Premium stuff functions flawlessly and is usually pretty accurate. Cheaper stuff, you get what you pay for.

Even certain lots of high quality 22 LR ammo can be iffy.
I had a brick of ELEY Tenex that was not nearly as accurate in my Suhl
as was some ELEY Match EPS [black box]

Certain lots of HV ammo seem to work well, but on average, standard
velocity, unplated ammo is superior. Years ago, I bought a case of HV
unplated 22 LR made by PMC. It was amazingly accurate, my 541T
Remington shot it into .6 -.7 moa groups at 100 meters. Don't usually
see that from HV ammo. Dave.

I tried mini-mags in mine; shoots well and I admit I was a bit surprised how accuratly they shot; and how much higher they shot (flatter shooting).
